Found Fab 4K! Pick up some favorite AV discs from What Hi-Fi?’ at a discount

To stay up to date with all the latest home cinema releases, the team at What Hi-Fi? We are lucky enough to regularly test the range of AV kit in our state-of-the-art test room.
And in doing so, we need a range of top-notch 4K Blu-ray discs to fully challenge these systems. Whether it’s their Dolby Atmos presentation or their lighting capabilities, each team member has an ever-growing collection of discs they use during testing.
This price tag is still a small investment, but it gets you a respectable £10 for high quality discs.
As we mentioned, there are pages and pages of Disney discs included in the deal. If you’re on the hunt for an updated classic, though, King and Commander: The Far Side of the World stands out as a strong entry to consider.
Starring Russell Crowe as British Captain Jack Aubrey during the Napoleonic Wars, it follows his ship as he takes the crew on an expedition to pursue a dreaded warship in South America.
It hit cinema screens back in 2003, but recently received the much-needed addition of 4K and Dolby Atmos that takes the viewing experience to the next level. We’ve been using this disc for sound testing in particular, which is a key scene when Aubrey’s ship is attacked by a barrage of cannon balls. The loud cracking of flying wood, combined with the startled voices of workers from all around, is a great way to test any system.
For those looking for a more family-friendly watch, it goes without saying that Disney has a variety of animated offerings that delight adults and children alike. Moana, Play story 3again Encanto they are all on cards, for example.
Other new Disney animated releases are also available in the form of Elio. It may not have gotten much love at the box office, but it’s a touching watch that explores that feeling of inadequacy.
And we can’t go without recommending the latest favorite to enter our regular rotation. Marvel’s Thunder it has already been viewed at least 50 times in our test room, with one scene being repeated. When Florence Pugh’s Yelena leads an operation to escape a building full of agents, bullets fly every which way and bombs explode with great oomph, requiring beefy subwoofer performance.
The entire series is also quite dark, challenging projectors and TVs to display each frame with the correct amount of dark detail.
That’s just a glimpse of the discs on offer in this deal, so if some of them don’t suit you, check out HMV’s 3 for £50 offer.
