A source said to be familiar with Apple’s supply chain today revealed the color options Apple is planning for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the upcoming foldable iPhone.
The information comes from Macworldwhich says the new signature color for this year’s Pro models will be Dark Cherry, a deep wine-like red. Although some sources have previously reported a “Dark Red” option, the color is said to be closer to wine than bright red. BloombergMark Gurman and other leakers have suggested that Apple was experimenting with a red shade for the iPhone 18 Pro, but the color will apparently be more muted than last year’s Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro.
In accordance with MacworldSource, Apple has been working on four colors for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, with the following Pantone codes said to be used internally:
- Light Blue (Pantone 2121), similar to the iPhone 17’s current Mist Blue
- Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076), a new color theme
- Dark Gray (Pantone 426C)
- Silver (Pantone 427C), similar to the current generation
The source cautions that all four colors are still in development, and since the iPhone 18 Pro has yet to enter mass production, Apple still has time to make changes. Apple also doesn’t always offer four color options for the Pro range, so some of these shades may be dropped before launch. Last year, both Macworld and leaker Sonny Dickson reported that Apple considered launching the iPhone 17 Pro in black or metallic gray, but no color has been released.
With the first foldable iPhone, rumored to be the “iPhone Ultra,” the device will reportedly come with fewer options than the Pro models, with no bold or bright colors. MacworldThe source says Apple has been working on the classic silver and white model, as well as an Indigo option similar to the iPhone 17 Pro’s Deep Blue.
The same source confirms the previous leak on the folding design, saying that the device will have two rear cameras, a selfie camera on the outer screen, a second selfie camera in the upper left corner of the inner display, and a small iPad-style shape when revealed. The foldable is reported to measure 4.7mm when opened, making it much thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air.
In the construction of the iPhone 18 Pro, the CAD drawings seen by MacworldThe source supports rumors of a smaller Dynamic Island, which could free up a small amount of extra screen space when Live Actions aren’t running. The schematics also show a slightly reduced gap between the glass cutout on the back and the camera bump in at least one rendering, although the source could not confirm if this indicates a finalized design change. A Weibo leaker known as “Instant Digital” previously reported that Apple will use a new manufacturing process to reduce the color difference between the glass and the aluminum frame, which may be connected.
The iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone models are expected to be announced in September 2026, although some analysts suggest that the foldable will be introduced later. The iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 are rumored to follow in the first half of 2027.
