The unveiling of macOS 27 is a few weeks away, and apart from dropping support for four Mac models, rumors indicate that the new version of the software will be packed with AI features and some design updates. Here’s what’s coming.
#1: The New Siri

Siri’s AI overhaul is expected to be a marquee addition not only to iOS 27, but also to almost all of Apple’s software platforms — including macOS 27.
There will be a new version of Siri on the Mac that includes a chat-style interface, similar to that offered by ChatGPT and Google Gemini. And Siri will get new agent capabilities to take action across your Mac by responding to your requests and whatever you see on the screen.
Other Siri improvements include powerful LLM world knowledge to answer multiple questions and perform searches, support for multi-action requests, and much more.
#2: ‘Manage Tabs’ in Safari

Apple will use AI in macOS 27 to help keep your tabs organized with a new ‘Organize Tabs’ feature.
If your tabs are getting out of control, Safari will reportedly let you click a new ‘Organize Tabs’ button that can automatically organize your tabs into groups based on common topics.
It won’t be for everyone, but if it works well, the new feature could prove a useful tool for Safari users.
#3: Apple Photos editing features

Apple Intelligence will power three new photo editing tools coming to macOS 27 and iOS 27.
According to Mark Gurman, these features will be called Extend, Improve, and Reorganize.
- Expand: “allows users to create additional image content beyond the original frame”
- Improve: “uses AI to automatically improve color, brightness and overall image quality”
- Reorganize: “designed primarily for landscape photography…allows users to change their perspective after shooting”
It is expected that each new feature will use a new Gemini-powered version of the Apple Foundation Models.
#4: Creation of shortcuts in natural language

Apple’s Shortcuts app will soon make it easier than ever to create custom shortcuts.
In macOS 27, users will reportedly be able to use natural language to describe the shortcut they want to create—and it will create itself.
Thanks to Apple Intelligence, the Shortcuts app will not only be able to suggest actions, but also create new ones to fulfill your shortcut request.
#5: Design changes and touch improvements

macOS 27 is also rumored to bring design changes, with two areas of expected emphasis:
- Development of Liquid Glass design
- Future touch support configuration
On the Liquid Glass front, macOS Tahoe has received criticism for not delivering a radical overhaul like iOS 26. But Bloomberg says that editing comes with standard features, such as shadows and transparency.
As for touch optimization, the new MacBook Ultra is expected to launch later this year as the first touchscreen Mac. For this reason, we expect minor UI changes for a better support touch.
