Snap Launches $2,195 SPECS AR Glasses To Take On Meta Ray-Bans In Style

Snap officially launched the long awaited SPECS augmented-reality smart glassesand the company aims to go far beyond just another geeky gadget for first-time users. By SPCS, CEO of Snap Evan Spiegel you see AR glasses as the fashion wearable computer of the future.

Revealed by AWE USA 2026SPECS are defined as a wearable computer built into AR vision glasses. They are available for pre-order now $2,195with $200 refundable depositand are expected to be shipped Fall 2026 of US, UK, and France.

Snap also provides SPECS with a strong introduction to fashion and culture. The campaign was shot by a famous photographer Steven Meisel and features Kaia Gerber, Jimmy Butler, Hoyeon, Imogen Heap, and Jack Harlow.

Despite its wearable vibe, SPECS packs impressive hardware into a surprisingly light frame. What sets the SPECS apart from the competition is that it is a fully self-contained AR glasseswith no puck or tether. They use a Swiss TR90 polymer frame available in two sizes: 47 mm by 132 grams again 52 mm by 136 grams. They include Snap’s liquid-crystal-on-silicon displaya 51-degree field of view, 16 million colorsagain electrochromic lenses that transition from clear to tinted in 10 seconds.

Internally, the use of SPECS two Snapdragon processorsalthough Snap did not reveal the exact chip models. One processor handles computer visionwhile the other is dedicated to performance AR lenses. Snap claims 7 ms image motion delaywhich should help digital objects stay strong in the real world.

Closer competitors show that Snap’s approach is ambitious and explains the high price tag.

The Xreal Aura glasses deliver superior XR performance and thus require an external computing unit. The price has not been disclosed.
