New images of the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 reveal major design changes

The TL;DR

  • Newly discovered photos and images confirm that the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 has a new design.
  • The Buds4 is expected to launch alongside the Buds4 Pro and Galaxy S26 series on February 25, 2026.
  • The earbuds should start at the same price as their predecessors and could feature bundle deals.

Android News Articles has released a new rendering of the Samsung Galaxy Buds4, which is expected to be widely announced at the next Samsung Unpacked event. The following are photos obtained by our sister site, Android Authoritywhich show that the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 has an updated design. Previous leaks support this new offering and it was found in the One UI 8.5 firmware update. The earbuds are expected to launch alongside the Buds4 Pro series and the Galaxy S26 on February 25, 2026. However, the offer has been revealed Mohammed Khatri point out that the earbuds may be missing an important feature.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4 design details

The Galaxy Buds4 lie horizontally on their charging stand, rather than vertically.

Mohammed Khatri new images show that the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 will sport metal strips on the trunk to differentiate it from Apple’s AirPods. We can see what appears to be a circular grille at the top of the back of the trunk, while the connectors are shown on the inner part of the trunk. Indents on the lower part of the stem can indicate compression control support.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds rest horizontally in a square-shaped case. The lid is transparent, and the company logo is written on the front. However, unlike the previous translation found by Android Authoritythese new images reveal that the Buds3 case may not include a built-in speaker. This is an important omission, as those prone to losing their belongings will not be able to find buds with the same Find My feature. Like the Samsung Galaxy Buds3, the Buds4 will not use ear tips. They also appear to have an upper angle with a wire grille design element at the top.

The company was found to have assigned internal code names—Bach and Handel—to the Buds4 Pro and Buds4 in October’s One UI 8.5 firmware update. This revelation coincided with a vector-based rendering of the Buds4 Pro that shows a rounded earbud stem. An updated image from last month confirms that the Buds4 will sport the same circular design.

Official creator Billbil-kun of Dealabs Magazine got important information about Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds4 color variants. These will reportedly be launched in France in Black and White, with a possible apricot color for the Buds4 Pro. However, the latter may be reserved only for Samsung stores or certain markets.

A hand gesture

The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 share the same tipless design as the Apple AirPods 4.

The updated aesthetic is great, but we’re more interested in the updated features. Android Authority Note that the Galaxy Buds4 may support Interpreter Mode with gesture and hold. In particular, Samsung seems to be giving the Buds4 independent control over the translator. This means you no longer need to take out your phone to use the Interpreter app.

Price and availability

Leaker Billbil-kun reveals the final European prices of the new Samsung Galaxy Buds. In particular, the Buds4 Pro will sell for 249 euros, while the Buds4 will launch for 179 euros. This means good news for consumers, indicating that the earbuds will cost the same as their predecessors when they launch in the US.

French buyers may receive additional promotional offers. This will allow buyers to grab the Black variant with a 25W wireless charging pad at no additional cost. Billbil-kun suggests that this offer can be extended to other European countries.

Samsung Galaxy Buds4: What we’d like to see

Samsung remains a key player in the wireless earbuds arena, especially for Samsung smartphone owners. While the Buds3 Pro sit comfortably as a future-proof offering, the more pedestrian Galaxy Buds3 fall dramatically short of the mark. Instead of building on the success of the Galaxy Buds2, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 tried something new that didn’t pay off. By doing so, the prospect of the most advanced and latest Samsung Galaxy Buds4 has quickly gained momentum.

Improved fit

There is nothing between the earbud and the curved recess (concha) in the ear, which means that the earbuds rest on the stem to stay in place.

It seems that Samsung has taken a page from Apple’s playbook and designed a pair of closed-back earbuds like the AirPods (fourth generation). Although graduated designs are popular, they are not enough to secure the earbuds in place by themselves. The Galaxy Buds3 leaves an awkward space between the concha and the earbud, making it difficult to get a reliable fit. The accumulation of sweat and sebum makes the buds more likely to self-exfoliate. I would like to see Samsung bring back the silicone ear tips or improve the design of the Bud4 bulb once it works properly.

Fixed active noise cancellation

Open ears are designed to leave your ears uncovered, allowing for localized sound in your ears. Unfortunately, doing so greatly affects how well the buds cancel out distracting noises. Similar to AirPods 4 and ANC, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 comes equipped with ANC technology. However, they perform a little better than their Apple rival when cutting down on mid-range and high-end frequencies. The unreliable fit of the Galaxy Buds3 also means that noise cancellation varies greatly each time you wear the buds. Samsung should implement a consistent noise canceling capability in the Samsung Galaxy Buds4.

Smart charging case

The charging case for the Galaxy Buds3 does not offer shipping power but can be charged via USB-C or wirelessly.

Like earbuds, charging cases have gotten smarter over the years. For example, the JBL Tour Pro 3 case can connect to third-party devices via USB-to-3.5mm and transmit audio wirelessly to the earbuds. This breathes new life into old hardware that would otherwise tearfully wipe off the shelf of the nearest thrift store. The case also supports Auracast streaming to any compatible device. By comparison, the Buds3 case doesn’t support audio streaming or Auracast streaming capabilities. The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 must adopt high-end performance to compete with high-tech competitors.

Better reduction of in-call noise

Can you tell which one?

Earbud manufacturers use noise reduction algorithms in the phone to reduce the frequency of unwanted environmental sounds. However, while the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 feature improved the quality of the phone’s microphone, they do a poor job of eliminating distracting office chatter, wind, and road noise. Although Samsung’s Mic feature can improve call quality, it only works with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 should use better in-call noise reduction capabilities.

Long battery life

Christian Thomas / SoundGuys

The Galaxy Buds3 case is slim, with a clear lid.

Headphone battery capacity varies greatly from one device to the next. For example, the Sony WF-1000XM5 offers about 10 hours of continuous music playback time. Similarly, the EarFun Air Pro 4 lasts about nine hours and costs much less than the Samsung Galaxy Buds3. Even the Apple AirPods 4 with ANC last more than six hours and feature Advanced Charging to reduce premature battery degradation. The Samsung Galaxy Buds4 should provide long battery life for long-haul intercontinental flights and casual travelers.
