Today, Apple’s SVP of Services and Health, Eddy Cue, received the Entertainer of the Year 2026 award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Here are the details.

Cue was awarded Entertainer of the Year

Last month, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity announced that Eddy Cue will be this year’s recipient of the Entertainment Person of the Year Award.

At the time, Simon Cook, manager of Cannes Lions, said:

Eddy Cue has been continuously pushing the boundaries of entertainment and storytelling, building platforms and experiences that have redefined how audiences engage with culture. Under his leadership, Apple has not only produced world-class content but also shaped the future of entertainment through innovation, creativity and an unwavering commitment to quality. We are pleased to honor Eddy as our 2026 Entertainer of the Year.

Earlier this evening, Cue accepted the award during the festival’s opening ceremony, hours after delivering the festival’s keynote speech alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Armageddon, World Treasure).

When accepting the award, Cue said:

“We’ve never strived to be the most. We strive to be the best. When we started Apple TV almost seven years ago, we said, let’s build a place that allows the best storytellers in the world to do their best work.” […] Stories can make you laugh, cry, think and many other emotions. They connect us. In every language, in every culture, in everything. That’s what we’re all about at Apple, so stay tuned for more. We are just getting started.”

In a press release released this evening, Apple celebrated Cue, saying that he “has contributed to the creation of the world’s most influential entertainment program, overseeing Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, Apple Pay, Apple News, Apple Fitness +, Apple Card, Apple Maps and iCloud, as well as Apple’s productivity and creativity applications.”

Apple added that under Cue, “Apple TV, launched six years ago as an original streaming platform, has become one of the industry’s most award-winning and culture-defining services.”

During a keynote session earlier in the day, Cue and Bruckheimer made no secret of Apple’s intentions to make another F1 movie. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Cue and Bruckheimer, on Monday, once again teased the sequel to the hit F1 movie. “We’re going to come back and hopefully do another F1,” producer Bruckheimer told the audience, mentioning the name of F1 and Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. […]

Cue later added: “We’re going to do it again. Hopefully, we’re doing another Formula 1 movie. I think everyone wants to see another one. It was the biggest Brad Pitt movie ever. … It was a great, fun story, and you loved it when you left the theater or watched it at home.”

The pair also discussed another upcoming collaboration between Bruckheimer and F1 The Movie director Joseph Kosinski on Apple TV, a UFO conspiracy theorist. From Deadline:

“It’s kind of the President’s Men about what the government has been hiding, and what’s been going on with the UAPs[an unknown incident]all these years,” Bruckheimer said. “We found these two gentlemen who were working for the government and they couldn’t even see what was happening, they saw these problems, they kept asking many questions, and many doors were closed.”
