Apple has been incredibly successful in the corporate world over the past decade. With Apple Business tools and modern device management tools, Macs are easier to use and manage than ever. However, as Apple continues to grow its position as the business vendor of choice for IT teams, it must recognize that business customers want greater operational stability. You can’t break core office functionality in a security environment, and if you do, you should fix it right away.

About Apple @ Work: Bradley Chambers has been Apple’s IT director since 2009. With his knowledge of deploying and managing firewalls, switches, mobile device management system, enterprise-grade WiFi, 1000’s of Macs, and 1000’s of iPads, Bradley will highlight the ways Apple IT managers deploy Apple devices, build networks to support them, develop Apple products to share IT issues, IT users and ways to share IT. the doors.

The fallout from the March security update

A good example of this happened recently with the March 2026 security updates. Apple released patches for macOS 26.4, macOS 15.7.5, and macOS 14.8.5. Soon, IT managers began to notice a big problem with business printing with a company called PaperCut. Specifically, users who rely on PaperCut Mobility Print are now prompted for authorization for every single print job, without any known fixes. However, users using Mobility Print queues deployed with Print Deploy are not affected at all by this bug.

The bug affects all discovery methods, including known host, mDNS, and DNS discovery. macOS simply ignores the information stored in the key and forces the user to enter their username and password every time they want to print a document. In a school or corporate headquarters, this translates into a flood of help desk tickets for problems that IT can’t fix quickly.

PaperCut has issued an open support request with Apple to investigate the issue. Fortunately, there is a workaround if you are currently inundated with support requests.

9to5Mac take

While I’m glad there’s work done by PaperCut customers, IT departments shouldn’t be forced to re-issue their print lines because of routine security updates. It was working fine. When Apple sends out a patch that breaks something important, like secure printing, it disrupts business operations and costs organizations money. If Apple really wants to be a big business retailer, it needs to get rid of bugs like this. Bugs do happen, but if they affect business customers, they should be fixed quickly.
