Amazfit Active 3 Premium is getting a useful update for multi-device users

Amazfit has released firmware version 3.24.0.1 for Active 3 Premium, and the update weighs 14.99MB. The release brings HYROX racing tools, Stryd pace integration, a new heart rate mode for swimming with the Helio Strap and data synchronization for multiple devices.

Hyrox virtual speed is coming

The headline feature here is the HYROX Virtual Pace. Zepp Health designed the tool to generate different strategy times based on the runner’s target finish time, so that athletes training for HYROX events can plan their pace stage by stage rather than guessing on the fly. Anyone who has done a HYROX event knows that walking around the fitness and performance stations is one of the hardest parts to get right, so turning back the clock that early can really help.

Alongside the pacing tool, the update adds support for Stryd. When the Stryd footpod is paired with the watch, speed data from the pod will now appear directly within the HYROX workout. That gives runners a more accurate reading of their running dynamics during a session.

The Helio Strap finds a swimming role

This update also introduces a new swimming mode tied to the Amazfit Helio Strap. When the watch is connected to the Helio Strap and a swim session begins, the strap automatically switches to a specific swimming heart rate model. When the time is up, that heart rate data is synced back to the watch.

Swimming has often been one of the most difficult sports to track heart rate on the wrist. So releasing that function to a dedicated band makes sense from an accuracy perspective.

Synchronization of multiple devices

The most interesting part would be Data Fusion and Write-back. This is essentially a multi-device sync. If you have a number of different devices you use at the same time, the app can aggregate activity data such as steps, calories and distance, and sync that data across devices.

That sounds dry, but it’s important. People are increasingly using more than one device. A fitness watch, a ring or sleep band, maybe a heart rate monitor. Without proper integration, the user ends up with duplicate steps, conflicting calories or gaps between devices.

Write-back the piece you should watch. It suggests that Zepp Health does not only want to collect data from the app. It wants to restore the clean version to the devices as well.

No ZeppOS 6, yet

Interestingly, there is no mention of ZeppOS 6. We say “interestingly”, because the Active 3 Premium is on the list to receive the new operating system in July.

We checked the roadmap, and there is no visible change in the release schedule, so there doesn’t seem to be any delay. Which means owners of this device can look forward to another firmware update in the next few weeks.
