Opt out of DoorDash promo and unsolicited marketing notifications

Tired of being constantly bombarded with DoorDash advertising, promotions, and marketing notifications on your iPhone? You are not alone. If it sounds like your notifications are getting spammed by DoorDash, this is a major concern for many, and luckily with some hidden fixes, you can completely stop the DoorDash marketing junk being pushed into your notification center.

The Notifications System on the iPhone was once meant to only bring you important alerts about important things, like a missed call, an incoming text message, or an important email from a loved one or colleague. Unfortunately, the iOS Notifications system is no longer the same, and more and more apps are now committed to (ab)using the notifications system on the iPhone to bombard you with advertising, spam, promotions, and marketing. Why this is allowed by Apple is a big mystery, as it undoubtedly degrades the user’s reputation, and too many people do not realize that they can turn off many of these notifications. But if you thought that going into the Settings app > Notifications section would be the solution, that’s not entirely correct, because if you turn off all DoorDash notifications you’ll miss relevant alerts about pickup and delivery orders. Instead, you have to go to the little-known settings section of the DoorDash app to change all the nonsense manually. In fact, there are five different DoorDash notification settings to turn off to stop advertising junk,5!

How to Opt Out of DoorDash Promotional and Marketing Notifications

This is intended for iPhone but may work just as well on Android:

  1. Open the “DoorDash” app on your iPhone
  2. Go to your profile
  3. Tap on “Settings” (it’s kind of hidden, you might need to swipe to see it)
  4. Now go to “Notifications” and here’s where it gets interesting, you have five different settings you can change to set up a barrage of marketing notifications from DoorDash:
    • Store offer – CLOSED
    • DoorDash Offers – CLOSED
    • Recommendations – OFF
    • Reminders – OFF
    • Product Updates and News – CLOSED
  5. If you want to see only order updates, make sure you keep “Order Updates” ON in Push (because Push = notifications)

Here’s all the nonsense you’ll want to turn off in DoorDash’s Notifications settings if you don’t want to get random notifications about national taco day or the nearest restaurant having a sushi deal or any other nonsense flying your way unsolicited:

However, I love DoorDash, I use it more than any other delivery app, so I’m not trying to pick on them here. And honestly, DoorDash is better than most other apps because at least they have settings to turn off this crap (and most don’t). But that doesn’t mean this hasn’t annoyed me for a long time, and I finally had enough and dug into how to turn this thing off.
