In recent years, Macs have become more affordable. Cheaper starting points, more memory and storage per dollar, and the introduction of the MacBook Neo. For the first time, Apple started to be one of the leading brands in the market.
Unfortunately, Apple recently increased its prices due to the ongoing memory shortage. Macs aren’t as attractive as they were a few weeks ago, which is to say, there are still good deals out there – and if you need a new computer, I’d still say that today’s Macs are a good value compared to the rest of the computer market.
MacBook Air
Until the introduction of the MacBook Neo, the MacBook Air represented the entry point into Apple’s laptop lineup. Despite the fact that the MacBook Neo makes the value proposition a bit questionable, I’d still say that the MacBook Air is a great laptop if you want a better experience without needing anything premium.
MagSafe, P3 color display, Center Stage webcam, and extended battery life are just a few highlights of the MacBook Air. It comes in a 15 inch size, unlike the MacBook Neo which only offers 13 inches.
Right now, you can find these discounts on the entire MacBook Air lineup:

MacBook Neo
This product doesn’t need a long explanation – the MacBook Neo is Apple’s first affordable MacBook, coming in at just $699.
It has some downgrades compared to the aforementioned MacBook Air, but it’s still incredibly good for the price. Build quality, sharp display, and macOS experience are all impeccable. Of course, you have to deal with the slower A18 Pro chip (though trust me, it’s not a slouch), less ports, and 8GB of memory, but it’s completely reasonable for the price. It also comes in fun colors like Citrus, Blush, and Indigo.
There aren’t any significant retail discounts on the MacBook Neo right now, although if you’re a student, you can get a $100 discount from Apple. If not, you can buy one on Amazon:
- MacBook Neo: 256GB storage, 8GB memory – $689 at Amazon ($10 off)
- MacBook Neo: 512GB storage, 8GB memory, Touch ID – $789 at Amazon ($10 off)

MacBook Pro
At the top of the list is the MacBook Pro. You get the best of the best, though there is one major caveat. Apple is reportedly redesigning the top variant of the MacBook Pro later this year with OLED, touchscreens, and smaller designs.
That redesign will only start with the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, though — so if you’re someone who’s buying a base model with an M5 chip, you’re still in the clear to buy a new MacBook today. The same applies if you don’t mind the redesign at all, as the M5 Pro and M5 Max are still amazing new chips.
