iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Expected to Feature Small Power Island

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have a smaller Dynamic Island, according to Bloomberg. Over the past year, there have been mixed rumors about whether the iPhone 18 Pro models will continue to have Dynamic Island or have a punch camera under the Face ID screen and no Dynamic Island, but the latest information suggests that we are not removing Dynamic Island just yet.

Once Bloombergseveral prominent leakers on Weibo and other social media sites have said that Apple will make Dynamic Island smaller, but not eliminate it.

We heard similar rumors about a smaller iPhone 17 Pro Dynamic Island last year, but the Dynamic Island finally ended up being the same size. Rumors about Dynamic Island started in late 2025 and early 2026, and when we saw a flood of different rumors about the same feature in the months leading up to the launch of the new iPhone, those rumors were accurate.

Most of the iPhone 18 Pro rumors about no Face ID and no Dynamic Island were circulated in early 2025, so Apple may have considered the 18 Pro feature and pushed it back, or those rumors were just speculation. There may also be confusion about what goes under the display and what doesn’t.

To make use of the smaller Dynamic Island, Apple is rumored to be placing the Face ID dot light under the display, and rumors suggest that the company is using new camera technology that could reduce the size of the front-facing camera. The front-facing camera, Face ID dot projector, and infrared camera are expected to be housed in the Dynamic Island, and will not be under the display.

Finally Apple wants to build an iPhone that is a slab of glass without cutouts, and we can see that celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iPhone scheduled for 2027, but it will not happen in the fall of 2026 with the iPhone 18 Pro models.
