My Favorite Bluetooth Speaker Is On Sale For $50 Off Right Now

JBL makes a say a Bluetooth speaker, and the brand’s Flip series has been my all-time favorite for generations. The JBL Flip 7 is the best, with great sound, a travel-friendly size, and a subtle but effective upgrade over the previous two models in both sound and features. I love this speaker and its almost indestructible design, and now it’s getting a good sale. Right now, you’ll get it for $50 off its $150 retail price, the lowest it’s ever been.
I’ve used the Flip 5 as my go-to audio partner at home and on the road for years. The Flip 7 is better, providing clearer and more powerful sound to enhance everything from barbecue jams to conversation as I watch movies from my PC in the hot tub (what can I say, I like to multitask!). The Flip design works well in the hot tub as it is completely grippy, and provides easy controls for my slippery hands when I need to adjust the volume or stop the fun.
The Flip 7 offers some cool new features, including a new detachable loop that detaches at the press of a button (just make sure you don’t lose it), improved IP68 dust and water resistance, and a new shockproof case tested for 3-meter drops. The flip line has always been very easy, and I can attest to it myself a lot without side effects.
JBL has also begun adding Auracast to its new speaker line, a futuristic-looking feature that uses the new Bluetooth protocol for latency-free transmission to an infinite number of devices. Auracast is still new, but it’s an extremely promising technology, and it currently allows you to connect the Flip 7 and other JBL Auracast speakers in parallel. The only downside is that JBL has done away with its old PartyBoost feature, so you can only pair the Flip 7 with newer speakers like the Charge 6 and Clip 5.
In terms of sound quality, this is a more refined Flip, with a slight improvement in instrument definition, evident in instruments such as brass, strings, and vocals. It’s not a huge change from the Flip 6, but it’s nice to see an improvement, and the speaker has lost the aggressive touch that sometimes caused a bit of distortion on older models. Like any Bluetooth speaker, it will still distort if you push it too hard, but I turned it down above 75 dB in my review with no audible issues.
You’ll also get more battery life this time, from 12 hours on previous models to 14 (depending on volume), so you can take it off the grid for a while. You can even push that up to 16 hours with its new Playtime Boost mode, although that does reduce some bass.
All in one sweet little package. It’s my first recommendation when anyone asks me about a large portable speaker, offering a good compromise between size, sound, and durability. Although it has been jumping up and down in price recently, now is a good time to grab it at the lowest price we have seen so far.
