The Low End

I’ve had my own problems with the bass response of Sony’s 1000x models, but they’ve gotten a little better over the years. With the XM6s, the bass is the cleanest yet, while still being dense and powerful. There is an effort made to reduce the volume and low concentration in order to get a powerful song that does not cause so much fog. It sounds more detailed, but still has that basic texture that the 1000x series is known for in its basses. They don’t quite resolve, but the clarity shown still feels like an improvement.

Of course, you can EQ the bass to try and tune it as much as you like, but for me, the standard profile made enough of an impression to check the lows as much as possible. You can add and subtract gain on Sony’s wireless products, but the factory setting here really sounds like the intended sound of the earphones more than any previous model.

Mids

This is the clearest midrange I’ve ever heard from Sony WF-1000x earphones. It makes a clear attempt to show full tools with more defined qualities that try to express more than painting. You get a warm tone that pushes forward and allows for an open presentation that allows the instruments to breathe well. As a result, the mids have more personality to them, offering a more accurate claim and tonal accuracy. The upper-midrange supports even the loudest midrange response, where you may want to use EQ to help smooth out some of its more distinct frequencies. However, you can also get the best sound response you will hear with the Sony 1000x series. They are very clear and feature the most resolving performance from the XM6.

They are high

Like all other sound signatures, the height represents an improvement over previous models. The XM6 features the most vibrant high frequencies of any Sony earphone. They are bright and have a good amount of energy that may be aggressive to some listeners. It’s a little over-adjusted, but I never felt the height was harsh enough to be uncomfortable. Using the “soft” preset should be enough, but I would suggest making subtle changes.
