Can Strauss & Wagner SonicSil Ear Tips Make My Sony WF-1000XM6 Earbuds Better?

I recently reviewed the new Sony WF-1000XM6, one of the year’s biggest launches in true wireless earbuds. In my review, I praised the XM6 for its refined sound quality and highly effective noise cancellation, but there was one thing that held it back. The new design of the WF-1000XM6 results in a fit that is as comfortable and secure as previous models. I thought the XM6 felt comfortable, not only in comfort, but also in sound quality. My impressions of the WF-1000XM6 were based on the stock ear tips that came with the product, but there are always ways around this by trying different brands of ear tips.
Strauss & Wagner, makers of great audio accessories like the Libsion cable and Focal Utopia ear pads, have just released a line of new ear tips. SonicSil are their TWS foam tips, and they are very similar to the stock tips of the WF-1000XM6. Let’s see if these new tips can fix some of these comfort issues that would put the XM6 up there as the best in the market.
What are Strauss & Wagner SonicSil Ear Tips?
I Strauss & Wagner SonicSil 4.0mm TWS Foam Eartips is a set of foaming tips designed for wireless in-ear headphones with a nozzle diameter of 4 mm. Constructed from low-rebound memory foam, the core components include soft, compressible foam that expands slightly to conform to your ear for a secure, pressure-relieving fit, improved sound isolation, and improved sound clarity compared to standard silicone tips.
SonicSil and Sony WF-1000XM6 Fit Test
Right away, the SonicSil tips fit perfectly over the WF-1000XM6 microphone. The tips I chose were mediums, but larges also felt comfortable to me. I immediately felt the difference when I put the earbuds in my ears. The house was more secure and stable, holding me tightly inside my ear. With the stock tips, the XM6 was slower, which slightly affected the separation. With SonicSil tips, isolation was improved, holding the ears still as Sony’s robust ANC took over.
SonicSil & Sony WF-1000XM6 Sound Test
If the Strauss and Wagner SonicSil tips help you hold the WF-1000XM6 better in your ear, how does that affect the sound quality? There’s nothing about the SonicSil tips that will dramatically change the fit of the earphones, but there are some minor features I’ve noticed. I enjoy the clarity of the XM6’s bass already, but the SonicSil tips helped stop the frequencies even more, focusing them in a shorter form. The benefit of having a tight fit for your earphones is that the sound can come through more fully, and foam tips like SonicSil are great for making sure you hear everything you need. A loose fit can sometimes fail to fill the space that a sound signature needs to display its proper scale. It can also combine other frequency properties, but I don’t think that’s a problem with the SonicSil tips.
Summary
For all the credit the Sony WF-1000XM6 rightfully benefits from with class-leading noise cancellation and refined, high-definition sound, the slightly stiff stock fit leaves room for improvement. What the Strauss & Wagner SonicSil 4.0mm TWS Foam Eartips prove is that sometimes the missing piece isn’t new hardware, it’s proper branding and stability. Delivering a firmer, more secure fit, the SonicSil tips allow the WF-1000XM6 to operate at close to its full potential. Enhanced isolation supports Sony’s already excellent ANC performance, while a strong acoustic signature improves bass focus and overall clarity without changing the sound signature. Rather than resetting the tuning, these foam ear tips help the XM6 sound full and controlled – as intended.
If you find the WF-1000XM6 a little loose or don’t fit the stock ear tips, the SonicSil upgrade is a simple but effective solution. In the crowded market of wireless earbuds, where small ergonomic differences can determine daily usability, perfecting the fit can elevate an already high-end product into a true high-end destination. For XM6 owners chasing maximum comfort, isolation, and sonic precision, the Strauss & Wagner SonicSil tips are an easy recommendation.
