Xiaomi Watch 5 lives around the world with Wear OS 6 and a strong battery

Xiaomi has released a global version of the Watch 5, bringing Wear OS 6 to the hardware. The watch has a 1.54-inch round AMOLED display with sapphire glass, and a six-day battery life.
The hardware itself has not changed since China released it in December. What does change is how the Watch 5 fits into the broader Android smartwatch space.
From context initialization to global configuration
When the Watch 5 was first launched, Xiaomi focused on getting the basics right. The watch uses a large 1.54 inch AMOLED display designed to be readable and protected by sapphire glass rather than the usual mineral crystal.
Battery capacity was another obvious factor. At 930 mAh, the Watch 5 packs a much larger battery than most standard Wear OS watches. That capability works alongside Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset and BES2800 co processor, which handles background tasks and sensor workloads to reduce power consumption.
Initially, this hardware ran Xiaomi’s HyperOS for wearables. That platform included the basic functions of a smartwatch but remained outside of Google’s ecosystem, which limited how the watch could be positioned outside of Xiaomi’s software stack.
The global release replaces HyperOS with Wear OS 6. This one change makes the Watch 5 a direct alternative to the Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch models rather than a similar option with a different app story.
Running Wear OS 6 puts the Watch 5 squarely in the mainstream of Android smartwatches. Google services, third-party apps, and system-level integrations now work seamlessly with other Wear OS devices.
Health summary and fitness tracking
The Watch 5 includes the usual basics of health tracking. It continuously tracks heart rate and blood oxygen and uses those readings to detect stress and track sleep. Xiaomi also keeps its one-tap health check, which pulls heart rate, SpO2, pressure, and recent sleep time into one 60-second snapshot. It is designed for quick testing rather than detailed analysis.
Motion tracking is handled by standard motion sensors, which support step tracking, sleep stages, and automatic activity detection. For outdoor exercise, the Watch 5 includes dual band GNSS.

Colors and prices
Globally, the Watch 5 is available in Juniper Green and Black. The price is set at 299 euros.
In some markets, pre-orders include bundled extras such as earbuds or small home devices. These offers vary by location and time and serve as short-term incentives rather than permanent changes in prices.
