I tested the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ — and it’s a business laptop that knows how to have fun
I don’t always review business laptops, but when I do, it’s machines with Panther Lake. That’s the case with the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+, one of the latest laptops featuring Intel’s new CPU. While the processor brought me to the table, this 2-in-1’s other attributes make me stay. It has some shortcomings, but its positives largely outweigh the negatives.
As a 2-in-1 convertible, this device can serve as a laptop and a tablet. Unlike 2-in-1s we’ve seen in the past, MSI’s machine is relatively slim, making it easy to slip into your backpack and carry. The aluminum chassis isn’t much to look at, but its understated design means you won’t get unwanted stares when you’re using it in public.
While the design won’t turn heads, the performance and battery life warrant attention. Thanks to the Intel Panther Lake X7 chip, you get performance on par with the best MacBooks with an Apple M4 chip. The Prestige 14 Flip AI+ might be a business laptop, but it’s also quite capable of playing modern video games. You’ll also get over 20 hours of battery life, which is astonishing for a Windows laptop.
Positive attributes abound, but there are a few drawbacks. Though the OLED panel is sharp and colorful, it’s relatively dim and doesn’t support HDR. And as I always say about the best 2-in-1 laptops, tablet mode can be quite cumbersome compared to the best tablets.
Though it’s not perfect, I appreciate what the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ offers. If you’re looking for a 2-in-1 business laptop that’s also decent for gaming, this is a pretty solid choice if you’re willing to accept some compromises. Find out more in my full review!

MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ review: The ups
The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is a great business laptop thanks to its understated design, powerful Panther Lake performance, and long battery life.
Ultraportable design
The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ has a minimalist design that fits perfectly in an office setting. The only embellishment on the aluminum alloy chassis is a classy MSI logo. Again, this laptop won’t draw attention, but I appreciate its subdued design.
Opening and closing the Prestige 14 Flip is seamless, as is flipping it 360 degrees to enable tablet mode. Thanks to its smooth surface, holding it in both configurations feels great. The lid is sturdy enough to remain stable even when you walk around with it open.
At 12.4 x 8.7 x 0.5 inches and 2.8 pounds, the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is an unobtrusive travel companion. I almost forgot I had it with me when I brought it home from the office and back. Keep in mind that the 13-inch MacBook Air M4 is just slightly lighter at 2.7 pounds, so kudos to MSI for keeping this machine so light.
The keyboard is another design highlight. There’s a decent amount of space between the keys, and they have good travel distance. Even though they’re membrane keys, they have a nice amount of resistance when pressed. The smooth and responsive touchpad is also quite good to use. Overall, typing on this laptop is enjoyable and functional.
Though thin in design, the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ isn’t thin on ports. An HDMI 2.1 port rests beside a pair of USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left-hand side. Over on the right, you’ll find two USB-A ports and a headphone jack. That’s a good amount of ports for just about any peripheral you might want to connect.
The laptop comes with a stylus that you can tuck into a compartment in the bottom center. The stylus is a bit thin, but it works well enough for taking notes or drawing on the display. While I’m pleased that you don’t have to pay extra for this digital pen, I wish that placing and removing it from the compartment weren’t such a pain.
Lastly, I appreciate the shutter for the 1080p webcam. It’s easy enough to slide the shutter back and forth, though you’ll need to use the tip of your finger nail to get a good grip. If you’re a business professional who values privacy, this is a great feature to have built in.
Strong Panther Lake performance
The Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is another laptop that nicely showcases the power of Intel’s Panther Lake CPU. Like the Dell XPS 14 (2026) that I reviewed, this model packs an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. With specs like that, this machine is more than capable of handling one’s average workflow.
To that point, MSI’s convertible deftly handled the dozens of Chrome tabs and other apps like Slack and Gimp that I have open during a typical workday. I never felt it stutter or slow down during my eight-hour shift. This laptop handled everything I threw at it and remained snappy and responsive.

So how did the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ perform in our lab tests? On Geekbench 6, which measures overall CPU performance, it pulled in a solid multi-core score of 16,558. That’s basically on par with the XPS 14’s performance and slightly better than the MacBook Air M4, though Apple’s notebook does better for single-core tasks.
Over in our Handbrake test, which tasks the laptop with transcoding a 4K video to 1080p, MSI’s convertible finished in 6 minutes and 3 seconds. That lags behind the MacBook Air M4 by 29 seconds and the XPS 14 by a minute and a half. In other words, you’ll have to be patient when transcoding videos on this machine.
Solid gaming performance
The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ might be a business laptop, but since it packs a Panther Lake chip with integrated Intel Arc Graphics, we ran some games on it to see how it performed. Given the results I saw from the other Panther Lake laptops I tested, I wasn’t disappointed.
Using a game’s respective built-in benchmarking tool, the resolution set to 1080p, graphics set to high, and with the frame-boosting Intel XeSS enabled, we saw some impressive results.

The graphically demanding Cyberpunk 2077 performed admirably here, even if it didn’t hit the desired 60 frames per second. That said, I got the game to top out at 55 fps when I set the graphics to medium, kept the resolution at 1080p, and XeSS enabled. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was the big winner here, averaging 65 frames per second. However, Total War: Warhammer III couldn’t quite hit 30 fps.
You’ll notice that the Dell XPS 14 with the same Panther Lake chip delivers stronger gaming performance. This is likely because Dell’s notebook is designed with a higher TDP and a more robust cooling system, which lets the CPU draw more power and maintain higher clock speeds for longer. In contrast, the MSI Prestige has a thinner chassis and more conservative thermal limits to ensure it doesn’t burn your hands when in tablet mode. This is likely why we’re seeing different results from the same chip.
Though you won’t get performance comparable to the XPS 14 or even a budget gaming laptop, you can still have a good (and smooth) time playing graphically demanding games on MSI’s machine. Just be sure to play around with the video and graphics settings to find the balance of performance and graphical fidelity that works for you.
Epic battery life
All of the Panther Lake laptops we’ve tested so far have delivered astonishing battery life for Windows laptops. The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is no exception. Though it doesn’t quite hit Intel’s lofty 31-hour claims, you’ll still get well over a full workday’s worth of endurance.
In our battery test, which involves continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi at 150 nits of brightness, the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ lasted for an average of 20 hours and 26 minutes! That blows past the XPS 14 OLED (12:19) and 13-inch MacBook Air M4 (14:53).

I should note that the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ has a larger battery than the XPS 14, which no doubt contributes to the delta we’re seeing above. And while both machines have OLED panels, the display on MSI’s laptop doesn’t support HDR or get nearly as bright overall (more on that shortly).
Advantages over the competition aside, this is one of the longest-lasting laptops we’ve ever tested at Tom’s Guide, which is no small feat!
MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ review: The downs
The MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ is generally great at what it does, but it’s not without its shortcomings.
Dim OLED panel
The Prestige 14 Flip AI+ proves that not all OLED panels are created equal. Though your eyes won’t be offended by what they see, you won’t get the same visual feast that you would from similar laptop OLED screens.

The screen doesn’t get very bright, falling short of hitting 250 nits in our display testing. And, no, I didn’t forget to add its HDR brightness, as this laptop doesn’t support it. Even discounting that, the Prestige 14 Flip AI+ can’t match the SDR brightness of the XPS 14 or MacBook Air M4.
That said, color reproduction (sRGB and DCI-P3) is generally good and helps deliver vivid colors. Color accuracy (Delta-E) is also in line with the competition. I like the slightly oversaturated hues, though you might prefer the more naturalistic tones of the MacBook Air M4’s display.
Moving away from visuals, the display’s touchscreen functionality is relatively flawless. Using your finger or the included stylus to scroll websites and tap through menus feels as intuitive as on a tablet. Say what you will about Windows 11, but it still works very well with touch displays, as it does here.
Cumbersome tablet experience
There’s no denying that the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ delivers a fantastic laptop experience. Unfortunately, the same isn’t true when using this device as a tablet.
Holding this convertible in tablet mode isn’t exactly comfortable. That’s mostly because your fingers are always pressing against the keys on the back. And though 2.7 pounds doesn’t sound heavy, that weight becomes very apparent over time, which forces you to constantly readjust your grip.
This is the main issue I have with convertibles, so it’s not a problem specific to the Prestige 14 Flip AI+. Still, don’t expect a smooth time when using the Prestige in tablet mode for long periods.
MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ review: Verdict
Shortcomings aside, there’s a lot to like about the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+. Its elegant ultraportable design, strong Panther Lake performance, and enduring battery life are the big highlights, ensuring you get a reliable machine for work and play. And though it’s currently unavailable for purchase, the $1,299 asking price isn’t bad for what you get.
If you don’t care for 2-in-1 laptops or want stronger Panther Lake performance, the XPS 14 is an excellent, if more expensive, alternative. Similarly, if you’re not into Windows PCs and just want a relatively affordable standard notebook, then you can’t go wrong with the $999 (or lower) 13-inch MacBook Air M4. However, if you liked what I had to say about the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+, then it’s worth considering as a business laptop that also knows how to have fun.
