Motorola has officially launched the Moto Buds 2 and Moto Buds 2 Plus at MWC 2026. The former is Motorola’s affordable option, relying on long battery life and a low price. The latter adds Sound by Bose tuning, CrystalTalk AI, and audio sharing. Fortunately, both are packed with useful features, including Hi-Res audio with LHDC, surround sound, adaptive ANC, and Bluetooth 6.0. Here’s what differentiates the two and which one might make sense for you.
The Moto Buds 2 are aimed at sub-$100 consumers with long battery life

Motorola claims that each set of earbuds lasts more than 9 hours per charge cycle.
Motorola is positioning the Moto Buds 2 as its everyday option, and on paper, they look surprisingly full. For example, the earbuds use an 11mm dynamic driver paired with a 6mm micro planar magnetic driver. In theory, this combination should support strong bass and outstanding treble presentation. Of course, driver configuration alone doesn’t guarantee performance, so we’ll have to test the buds in the lab to find out their true sound quality.
Apart from driver programs, Moto Buds 2 supports powerful ANC capable of reducing external sounds by 55dB. They also include a transparency mode and wireless Hi-Res audio with the LHDC Bluetooth codec. The latter supports audio samples of up to 900kbps, 24-bit/92kHz under the right conditions. The earbuds use Bluetooth 6.0 with dual device connectivity, and movie fans can use surround sound. A gaming mode is also present for low-latency audio, and the array of buds with six microphones is useful for taking calls.
Most impressively, Motorola rates the battery life of the Moto Buds 2 at up to 11 hours, up to 48 hours with the case. This is well above the industry average, and plugging the buds in for 10 minutes delivers up to 3 hours of playback. The earbuds support advanced AI features with compatible Motorola devices. This allows quick access to reminders, notification summaries, and other assistant-style tools without taking out your phone. The Moto Buds 2 will roll out across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific in the coming weeks for €79 (~$92). No US availability is confirmed yet.
Moto Buds 2 Plus adds Sound by Bose and advanced call features

The Moto Buds 2 Plus are available in Cool White and Silhouette.
Stepping up to the Moto Buds 2 Plus gives you Sound by Bose tuning and dynamic 11mm drivers paired with balanced armatures from Knowles. Like the standard model, you also get Bluetooth 6.0 support, LHDC codec, multi-point connection, surround sound, powerful ANC, and a 6-mic array.
Where the Plus model sets itself apart is in call functionality and smart features. Motorola highlights the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and CrystalTalk AI mode enabled by the app. This reduces background noise and focuses on the speaker’s voice during calls. Additionally, you get automatic play/pause wear detection, AI-powered live translation, and meeting transcribing and summarizing. Many of these AI features require an app compatible with the Moto Buds.
Audio Sharing also makes an appearance, allowing two pairs of Moto Buds 2 Plus earbuds to connect to the same phone (same model required), and you can customize touch controls. Battery life is slightly shorter than the standard model, up to 9 hours on a single charge and up to 40 hours on a case. Meanwhile, a 10-minute charge yields about 2 hours of playtime. Athletes will appreciate the earbuds’ IPX4 waterproof rating. The Moto Buds 2 Plus will also be launched in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific, priced at €149 (~$173). Color options include Pantone Cool White and Pantone Silhouette.
What does this mean for consumers?

Moto Buds 2 Plus features Audio Sharing, which allows you to connect two pairs of earbuds to one device.
Motorola has clearly divided the system into functional lines. First, the Moto Buds 2 prioritize battery life and value while keeping key features like ANC, LHDC, and surround sound. Meanwhile, Moto Buds 2 Plus adds Bose tuning and more powerful AI-driven call and productivity tools.
From a specific perspective, both models check the boxes that consumers expect in 2026. The difference will be the real-life sound quality, performance, and effectiveness of the ANC. Meanwhile, Motorola has made aggressive plays in both the sub-$100 and sub-$200 segments. If the limited functionality matches the feature list, the Moto Buds 2 and Moto Buds 2 Plus would be great contenders in their price categories.
