The Amazfit Falcon 2 is featured in the code of the Zepp Health app

A closer look at the latest Zepp Health Android app revealed something interesting. Buried in the code is a string called SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025, which seems to point to a successor to the Amazfit Falcon.
We saw it in the Zepp Health 10.0.8 app APK that was released a few days ago. Living within the code is a set of internal support flags that appear to map the number of devices that the platform recognizes.
The exact characters found in the application read as follows:
SUPPORT_BIND_COLOGNE
SUPPORT_BIND_Cheetah2
SUPPORT_BIND_DUBLIN
SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025
SUPPORT_BIND_GENEVA
SUPPORT_BIND_LANGUAGE
SUPPORT_BIND_MAKALU
Flags like these often act as internal pairing markers, allowing the Zepp Health app to identify specific hardware. They tend to appear before any public announcement, simply because app support has to be ready before the product goes live.
Also sitting there is a reference to the unreleased Cheetah 2. The Pro version of that device leaked a few days ago.
Some of the names in there are probably internal identifiers used by Zepp Health before the final brand name was locked down. It is common for companies to rely on city names or project code names in firmware and application code.
The Falcon may finally need a refresh
The original Amazfit Falcon arrived in October 2022 as a premium multi-sport GPS watch. Zepp Health has positioned it as a high-end training device with a titanium unibody construction, sapphire crystal protection and a water resistance rating of 20 ATM.
Other than that position, the Falcon line has never had a successor since its inception. Over the past few years some parts of the Amazfit lineup have appeared with new models and hardware updates, while the Falcon has remained unchanged.
A reference to SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025 may point to something in the works. The words raise an interesting question though. “2025” in the series could mean that the device was scheduled to be launched last year, which could suggest that the project has slipped or been pushed back in the release schedule.
It started almost months in advance
One thing is still missing from the picture. No successors to the Falcon or the Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro have appeared on any certification authority website we could find.
Those filings often appear months before a smartwatch hits the market, as companies must register wireless hardware and controllers before anything can be shipped. The fact that no watch has been shown yet makes it safe to say that the launch is not around the corner. If both are still on the roadmap, the real-world window is probably a few months out.
Meanwhile the APK discovery remains one of the few solid indicators that Zepp Health still has something planned for the Falcon line. Whether that comes off as a true follower or something different is anyone’s guess.
⚠️ An APK teardown helps predict features or devices that may come into service in the future based on code in progress. However, it is possible that such predicted features or devices may not make it to the public release.
