Ford Has 19 Recalls in 2026 (And It’s Only March)

In the less than three months since 2026 began, Ford has racked up a staggering number of recalls — 19 in total, one of which equals more than four million recalled cars and trucks. Ford often joins the list of brands with multiple recalls to their name.

Some of these recalls were very minor, and only one came with a “Do Not Drive” warning from the NHTSA. However, this very serious recall applies to approximately 16,000 vehicles. In total, the 19 recalls affected more than seven million vehicles (at the time of writing, the exact number is 7,399,060). We’re not even 25% through the year yet, and Ford is already on track to surpass its 2025 record of nearly 13 million recalled vehicles.

Those numbers look like Ford’s quality control isn’t what it used to be, and while there may be some truth to it, these numbers can look a lot scarier than they really are. Most of these recalls, including one that affected more than 4.3 million vehicles, were fixed by software updates, which were usually delivered over the air. Ford did not personally collect more than seven million cars from their owners to pay for expensive repairs.

We should also point out that, just because the year started off bad for Ford, doesn’t mean it will continue. The recall of 4.3 million vehicles was several times larger than any recall since 2025, and will likely be the largest of the year. In other words, the first quarter of 2026 was probably out.

Ford’s biggest recalls for 2026

The recall of 4,381,878 vehicles this February is the largest recall to date. Apparently, a number of Ford vehicles – including many members of the new generations of the F-Series family of pickup trucks, many USV models, and some E-Transit trucks – have had problems keeping up with the towing trailers. According to NHTSA, there was a risk that the brake signal lights would turn off. The brakes could be disabled, too.

Four other recalls broke or came close to nearly half a million affected. Two affected more than 800,000 vehicles each, and both were about potential problems with the rear view camera. Only one seems to have already been addressed, with software updates. For one, NHTSA says “a solution is currently under development.”

The other two major recalls for 2026 are smaller, while the other affects about 600,000 wiper blades for Ford vehicles made between 2020 and 2022. Affected windows need to be inspected and, if necessary, replaced, all free of charge. One recalled more than 400,000 Ford Explorers because, as the NHTSA summary reads, “rear toe links can break.” The fixed rear toe requires replacement of all affected units, also free of charge.

If you want to know if your vehicle falls under any of these recalls, you can check Ford’s official recall page. Enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and it will list any applicable recalls.
