Siri and Apple Home can now control the Matic Robots vacuum/mop, here’s how it works

I’ve been testing the robot vacuum and mop from Matic Robots for a few months now. It is a solid product built on privacy and intelligence. I will share more about my entire experience with Matic in the future. In the meantime, I want to quickly highlight an exciting update released overnight: Apple Home integration.
Matic now works with Apple Home
The Matic isn’t the first robot vacuum to work with Apple Home, but it’s the first one I’ve used.
While most of Matic’s features are still within the iPhone app, I’m impressed by how many features make their way into the Apple Home app.
I’m also excited to see what new features Matic gains by integrating with Apple Home and Siri.
Update to add smart home integration
I’m someone who still enjoys checking the App Store and reading update change logs. For that reason, I was happy to see the integration of Apple Home and Google Home mentioned in the release notes of Matic version 1.44.
After updating the Matic app, a new option “Connect to the Smart Home app” appears in the app settings. From here, tap “Enter Pairing Mode” and select Apple Home or Google Home. You can connect Matic to both, but you must pair one at a time.
The Matic robot vacuum displays a QR code on its screen that you scan in the app, things start processing and connecting, and Matic is ready to be named and assigned a room in the Apple Home app.
You can repeat this process for Google Home. Matic notes in the app that Amazon Alexa is not yet supported.
Siri voice control is a great new feature
Adding Matic to the Apple Home app adds great new features for customers in the Apple ecosystem, including Siri voice control.
Matic brings its knowledge of room locations and labels to the Apple Home app.
This list is separate from the rooms you create in the Home app yourself. That helps to avoid room duplication issues or having a bunch of empty rooms without HomeKit accessories.
You can control Matic with your voice to Siri from any device, including HomePod mini and Apple Watch. All of these commands worked during the first test:
- “Siri, start cleaning.”
- “Siri, vacuum and mop [room name].”
- “Siri, shut up [one room name] again [another room name].”
- “Siri, write [room name].”
- “Siri, vacuum and scrub everywhere.”
- “Siri, wait a minute [vacuum name].”
- “Siri, return the vacuum to the cell.”
Apple Home app controls
Within the Apple Home app, you can control the Matic in the same way. Controls allow you to extract, filter, and filter specific rooms, combinations of rooms, or all rooms. You can also pause and restart cleaning, and you can have Matic return to stock at any time.
Cleaning and wiping can be triggered by scenes you create or automations you assign. For example, you can automatically clean when you travel or dock when you get home.
Matic also features three cleaning modes for Apple Home: Quick, Deep Clean, and Automatic.

Apple’s home app also shows whether the Matic is charging or not.
The only feature offered in the Home app that didn’t work was playing audio for Matic detection. I know a robot vacuum can play a jingle, but that’s one button on Apple’s Home app that didn’t seem to work.
(I also noticed that the home app on iPhone and Apple Watch fully supports the robot vacuum and mop features, but the home app on macOS Tahoe 26.4 doesn’t know what to do with it. This means that Siri on the Mac can’t control the Matic. This is probably an Apple problem.)
Overall, the Matic smart home integration is very well done. I’m very happy to see this set of features added overnight in a software update to existing hardware. Although there are some important features that are only available in the Matic app, I can imagine using Siri voice control as much as it is convenient for me.
Matic Robots offers the Matic vacuum/mop, designed and assembled in California, for $1,245 with a 60-day return period and everything you need to get started.
