How to see Personal Hotspot usage for each device on iPhone

In this quick tutorial, we show you how to check the amount of cellular data each device has used when connected to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot.

iOS has long allowed users to see the total amount of mobile data used in Personal Hotspot. iOS 26.4 goes a step further by breaking down how that data was used.

It lists device names and how much data each one uses when connected to your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot. The most used one is listed first, followed by others.

There is also Other Devices section showing personal Hotspot data used by iPhone, iPad, and Mac running iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS 15.3 or earlier. Also, it includes data used by Android and other devices.

1) Update your iPhone to iOS 26.4 or later. Currently, it is in beta stage.

2) Open the Settings app and press Personal Hotspot.

3) Wait a few seconds, then press Use of data under the Increase Compatibility option.

4) You will now see a list of devices that have used your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot after upgrading to iOS 26.4. All personal data usage numbers, as well as those from older Apple devices and Android devices, will be shown cumulatively in Other Devices option.

The list shows the device name, model, and amount of Personal Hotspot data used. Plus, you can also see when it was last updated (that is, the last time that device connected to your iPhone’s hotspot).

Remember that the numbers here are not updated in real time. Apple says that Personal Hotspot usage numbers will be updated when you turn off the hotspot and when your carrier reports the final statistics.

In my testing, I found that the usage numbers also updated when I force close and reopen the iOS 26.4 Settings app.

Another thing to note is that even though the usage numbers from one of my Android devices were updated in the ‘Other Devices’ section (I noticed it went up by a few GB), somehow the usage of the old Samsung Galaxy M11 came up with its name.

Second, my iPhone 11 appeared twice. I haven’t reset usage statistics or settings on either device, but I think forgetting Personal Hotspot and rejoining it might cause the same iPhone 11 to show up twice.

Reset your Personal Hotspot numbers

You may want to reset this data each billing cycle to better keep track of your usage. Unfortunately, the Data Usage pane in the Personal Hotspot settings does not allow you to remove the device or reset its usage. The only way is to reset your mobile data usage, which will also reset the hotspot numbers.

  1. Turn on the iPhone Settings app and press Mobile phone (called Mobile Service or Mobile Data in some regions).
  2. Scroll down and tap Reset Statistics. closes’Enable Mobile Usage Statistics‘ will reset the count again.

If you don’t see the ‘Data Usage’ option in the iPhone Personal Hotspot settings

Here are some tips to fix that:

  • Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 26.4 or later. As mentioned before, this version is currently in beta.
  • Force close and reopen the Settings app several times.
  • Make sure to use Personal Hotspot. The ‘Data Usage’ option is not visible if you have not used Personal Hotspot at all.
  • Go to iOS 26.4 Settings > Mobile and turn on ‘Enable Mobile Usage Statistics’ from the bottom of the screen.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Access Data Usage on iPhone Settings > Mobile phone > Personal Hotspot.
  • Wait for iOS 26.4 to be publicly available.
  • Reset all settings, then use Personal Hotspot, and try again.
