SmartGym now offers expanded suggestions, regular segments, and more

App Store Award Winner SmartGym has just released an update full of customization options and general quality of life improvements. Here’s what’s new.
SmartGym continues to perfect and customize
Last month, SmartGym launched a major update that introduced Strava syncing, customized sharing options, among other features.
Today, the app released an even bigger update, with a few customization improvements that make it even more powerful for users looking for a fully flexible workout app.
With today’s update, the app’s AI-powered Smart Trainer will begin suggesting warm-up and cool-down recommendations, “automatically tailored to target your target muscles.”
Users can set the duration of each segment, and choose whether the warm-up and cool-down will be counted in their training and muscle recovery analysis.

And speaking of SmartGym’s Smart Trainer, users can set it to never automatically replace workout routines with new ones. However, SmartGym suggests that users “consider periodic full updates” to avoid hitting progress.
Back to workout routines, the app now allows users to organize their workout sets into Warm Up, Main, and Cool Down.
This makes it easy to add or remove segments independently, which is perfect for long workouts with multiple exercises. SmartGym now also offers a draft feature, which automatically saves unfinished routes so users can retrieve them later.

Another welcome addition in today’s update is Performance Effort. It allows users to set a training load for their performance, “so that your sessions contribute to your overall load and recovery picture.”
Today’s update also brings a revamped Cycle View, which SmartGym says is the app’s most used screen:
“Everything has been optimized, layout, typing, animations, and alerts, so your workout feels more focused and great from the first tap to the last set.”

Finally, for users who have the same exercise in multiple programs, SmartGym now allows users to review a workout in one program, or across all.
9to5Mac take
I’ve been using SmartGym every day for the past 3 or 4 years, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s flexible, works perfectly on Apple Watch and iPhone (and is available on iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro), and is just beautifully designed.
SmartGym has a seemingly endless list of exercises, and its effort to make every aspect of the app fully customizable has been a huge help in my workouts.
If you exercise, whether at the gym or at home, consider giving SmartGym a try. It’s available for free on the App Store, with an in-app subscription that was 100% worth it to me.
It’s worth checking out on Amazon
