The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is back near its best, with room-filling sound to match

Have your TV’s built-in speakers left you wanting more? Don’t worry, as we’ve tracked down a great Sonos Beam deal to help you bring your favorite shows and movies to life.

Whether you want to enhance the action at a Friday night movie or relax with a little music after a long day, a decent soundbar can go a long way in providing the surround sound enhancement required for most modern TVs.

Right now, the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is down to £349 with a £100 saving on the RRP of £449. That’s a 22% saving on the soundbar, excluding the usual big sales days, such as Prime Day, Black Friday or the January sales, where it was £329.

While there are plenty of great options out there, Sonos’ compact smart soundbar (now in its second generation) is undoubtedly your best bet for a great combination of design, performance and cutting-edge technology at a mid-range price.

Plus, it comes in two different colors (both offered today), so there will be an option to suit your home’s aesthetic.

The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) is very similar to its two main Sonos alternatives, the Arc is a more expensive soundbar, but capable of Dolby Atmos.

Given the choice between the two, however, the Gen 2 Beam is the better choice for most people as its reduced size and subtle, understated design allow it to fit comfortably on top of most TV stands without drawing attention to the nearby display.

Don’t let its size fool you, though, the tiny Sonos soundbar packs a surprisingly sophisticated audio experience, especially when used with Dolby Atmos content. In his 4.5-star review of the Beam, David Ludlow wrote: “If you’re looking for a solid way to amplify the sound on your TV, and a device to fit into your multi-room setup, the Beam is hard to beat.”

As a point of comparison, the Sonos Arc offers a 7.1 channel audio setup, while the Beam (Gen 2) drops it down a bit to 5.0. However, there’s still a significant level of precision and clarity in what you’ll find built into your TV, giving you a more immersive experience in whatever you’re watching.

With Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built-in, you can control the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) with your voice, go directly to a specific song, playlist or podcast with a few quick instructions.

Knowing how to adjust the Beam sound correctly means you’ll get the best out of your sound from day one. However, if there is ever a need to expand the system, the Gen 2 Beam is designed to work alongside other Sonos devices.

Currently available in black or white, the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) normally retails for around £449 in most stores, but at £349, it’s a steal today.

A step up from the previous model, the Sonos Beam (Gen 2) adds an extra dimension to the sound, literally, with its intelligent Dolby Atmos support. Loud, well-balanced and capable of delivering a cinematic feel, this sound bar is a great addition to a small or second TV. A single HDMI eARC input may be limited for some, however, and DTS support is absent, although it should be later in the year.
