Xiaomi Unveils Self-Installing Smart Lock with Matter Support

Xiaomi has officially expanded its smart home lineup by introducing the Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Locka smart locking solution designed to modernize standard doors without complex installation or expensive professional setup. Easy, No Drill Installation
The retrofit design supports many popular lock cylinder types – including Euro profile, UK mortise, and ASSA 2000. Rather than replacing your entire door lock or involving a locksmith, Xiaomi’s design fits over standard locking systems and can be installed without drilling or structural modification. That means less disruption to your existing door setup and a potential game changer for DIY-minded tenants or homeowners.
The kit includes both a smart lock module and an accompanying keypad, providing flexible opening options to suit different needs and preferences.

Xiaomi has equipped the Self-Install Smart Lock with various ways to open your door – from traditional to high-tech:

Self-Install Smart Lock is designed for modern connected homes. It supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivitywhich allows for seamless control and monitoring of the situation with the Xiaomi Home app. These include real-time updates, lock logs and smart notifications when someone arrives or when certain security events occur.
Perhaps most notable and important for Apple Home users, Xiaomi has integrated support for The issue with WiFi support means it will work with Apple Home, Google Home and others. Unfortunately based on the information provided by Xiaomi the new smart lock will not support Apple Home Key or UWB unlocking.
Battery Safety and Life
A smart lock is powered by a 2450 mAh lithium-ion batteryto give up six months of regular use on a single charge. It also comes with advanced security features including real-time warnings for push-to-open, multiple failed attempts, and automatic locking when the door sensor detects that the door is closed.
The product has been certified to meet European cybersecurity standards, which ensures that both hardware and software protection are strong and resistant to tampering.
Availability
It is not available for purchase from the official Xiaomi website. But you can pick it up from selected retailers for around €150. We don’t know when it will be launched in the UK. It is also available in select markets including Asia and the Middle East.
