Looking for the Best Deals on DeWalt Tools? Here’s Where You’ll Find Them

DeWalt came in second to Makita in our ranking of popular power tool brands, and the classic black and yellow gear is a common sight on many professional job sites. DIYers also appreciate the brand’s extensive product line and reputation for quality, but DeWalt tools can be expensive.

There are discounts available, however. Home Depot often runs deals on DeWalt tools, sometimes as much as half off the original price. Amazon also discounts DeWalt tools as a matter of course, and shopping there gives you benefits like fast shipping for prime members and a generous return policy. While the standard price of DeWalt tools is consistent across retailers, as of this writing Amazon is offering discounts of up to 40% on more than a dozen DeWalt tools. DeWalt has an official store on Amazon, and buying directly from DeWalt through Amazon is the only way to ensure that you get full warranty coverage.

Let’s use DeWalt’s XR 20V MAX Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Screw Gun as an example. Regular retail price is $199 at Home Depot, Acme Tools, and many other retailers; but Amazon usually sells it for $179. At this writing it is on sale at Home Depot for 25% off or $149 off and 39% off at Amazon, or just $109. That’s well below any competitor’s regular or sale price, including Home Depot. Details will vary by item you’re buying, but it’s common to see Amazon offering the best value for a given DeWalt tool.

Amazon doesn’t have brick-and-mortar stores that sell DeWalt tools, so where can you find the best deals in person? Home Depot clearance sales can lead to great savings; sometimes these deals are available online and sometimes only in certain stores. That said, some of these things are allowed for good reason. They may lack certain features, use an obsolete battery line, or be out of date.

If you find a deal at Home Depot or another hardware store for a fraction of the original cost, it pays to be skeptical and research exactly what you’re getting for that price. Buying clearance items from Home Depot isn’t the same as ordering a $10 drill from Temu, but sellers may not offer warranty or return protection on clearance or open-box items.

To find a dealer with the best DeWalt deals, we first identified all the stores that carry DeWalt products. We then removed those that were not usually offered at a price below full price, which excluded Acme Tools among others. Finally, we compared discounted prices on a few different items to see which online retailer has the best deals.

We’ve included in-store deals here as they can be a great way to save on tools, although you may have to hunt on foot or in your car. Home Depot and other hardware stores have great personal deals only during certain holidays, so keep an eye out for sales ads in your area.
