New Xbox CEO says “Xbox starts with console”

In an exclusive interview with Jez Corden here at Windows Central, Asha Sharma sat down to answer some important questions.
From what he’s been saying about Xbox’s “comeback” in his tweets to how he sees the console’s future, there’s a lot to unpack, so let’s dive right in.
What does “returning to Xbox” really mean?
When he was first appointed as the CEO of Xbox, Sharma made an interesting comment that immediately sparked a debate among fans.
He talked about “returning” to Xbox, a phrase that left many wondering what he actually meant.
To me, the spirit of ‘return to Xbox’ is about returning to the spirit in which the team was founded, to that spirit of wonder, the spirit of building something that no one else was willing to try – I’ve heard ‘rebellion,’ ‘rebellion,’ and ‘fun’ used. That’s what I was thinking when I wrote that.

In other words, you put “return” as more about Xbox culture, which isn’t a bad thing.
I think our biggest Xbox fans and players have invested up to 25 years of their time in this universe and our console. I want to make sure everyone knows that I am dedicated to Xbox, starting with the console. We will continue to meet players where they are — the world continues to change again. We’ll make sure Xbox is a great place for developers and gamers.
Xbox CEO – Asha Sharma
Sharma goes into great detail about what this means.
We want to invest in reducing the artificial divide between the different types of devices they want to use with us. I think that will mean more investment in breaking down barriers, in helping developers build and show across all the different hardware sensibilities. For me, I believe that Xbox starts with its fans, and we will grow from there. That’s what I wanted to sign “back” to Xbox.

For me, it’s good to see Sharma commit to Xbox hardware, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed until we see a real portable Xbox that can play my library collected since 18 years.
Not only that, Sharma goes on to add:
Xbox players have thousands of dollars invested, in money and time too – it’s very important to me to understand that and protect that. I’m committed to ‘getting back to Xbox,’ and that starts with the console, which starts with the hardware. You’ll hear more about that soon.
Xbox CEO – Asha Sharma
Hearing him say “there’s more on that soon” is an exciting start, and would be a great way to start his time as Xbox CEO.
There is a lot to digest here, and very interestingly, Sharma says a lot of the right things, at least for me anyway and hopefully for all of you.
I’m coming to you!
