How to turn off Screen Time on iPhone, iPad, and Mac


Learn how to turn off Screen Time and restrictions on your child’s iPhone, iPad, and Mac if you no longer want to use these features or are experiencing issues with Screen Time.

Screen Time is an umbrella option that includes many sub-features, such as parental controls, daily usage details, app limits, Timeout, contact limits, and more. If you don’t want to use these features on your or your child’s device, you can easily turn them off, as described below.

But before you start, keep these important points in mind:

  • You will manage all these options by going to iOS Settings app and hitting Screen Time.

  • To manage Screen Time on your child’s device, follow these steps directly on their iPhone or iPad. Or, go to Settings > Screen Time on your iPhone or iPad as well choose a name for your child less than The family the subject. Close Timeout

Timeout blocks all apps except the few you choose to allow. To disable it and get full app access:

  1. Go to iPhone or iPad Settings > Screen Time > Time to relax.
  2. If it’s currently open, tap it Close Timeout or Ignore Downtime Until Scheduled. Once the schedule is set, turn off the Scheduled change.

Turn off App Restrictions

You can use App Limits to set how many minutes or hours a certain app can be used each day. To close it:

  1. Go to iPhone or iPad Settings > Screen Time > Application limitations.
  2. Swipe left on the extra limit and tap Delete. Or, just shut up Application limitations switch to disable all additional restrictions.

Allow all applications

I Always Allowed in the Screen Time section allows you to choose which applications are allowed to be used during idle time. Since this option is a sub-feature of Downtime, simply turning off Downtime (already mentioned above) disables it.

Disable the eye protection feature

Your iPhone or iPad with Face ID will block content on the screen and prompt you to move the device to arm’s length before you can use it again. It does so by preventing you from using the screen too close to your face, thus helping to reduce eye strain. If you find it too stressful, turn it off Settings > Screen Time > Screen distance.

Turn off all communication restrictions

You can choose who you or your child is allowed to call, FaceTime, and text during Screen Time again Time to relax. Since you don’t want restrictions, go to iOS Settings > Screen Time > Communication Limitations then set both options Everyone.

Disable connection security

When enabled, this thoughtful feature dims any sensitive/nude media you or your child receives through messages, FaceTime voicemail, or Contact Posters. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Communications Security and turn it off if you want unlimited access to all types of media.

Turn off apps, media, privacy, and other restrictions

Turn off the screen time passcode

This is important.

If you have a Screen Time passcode set, some items, such as the Sign Out button in your Apple Account settings may be grayed out. If you are facing such problems:

  1. Go to Settings > Screen Timeand press Change Screen Time Password.
  2. Tap Turn off Screen Time Passcode then enter the passcode for the current screen time (not the device) to confirm.

Stop Screen Time from affecting your other devices

If you don’t want your iPhone’s Screen Time settings to apply to your iPad, Mac, or other iPhone, turn off the ‘Share to All Devices‘change.

Turn off several important Screen Time features at once

Finally, if you don’t want Screen Time to track your usage or don’t want to set app limits and use Sleep Time, then go to iOS. Settings > Screen Time and press Close Application and Website Activity from the ground up.

After this, the top task category, Downtime, Application Limits, and Always Allowed options will disappear from your Screen Time pane. You can find these by tapping Application and website function > Open App and Website Activity.

This is how you can disable Screen Time on your iPhone or iPad. The basics are the same if you want to do this on your Mac. Simply, go to System Settings > Screen Time and disable the sub-features you don’t need.
