District, beginners, Mr. Windychu, Ms. Wavychu, more

The new main game for Gen Pokémon Nintendo Switch 2 has been officially revealed. As one would expect and almost everyone was hoping for, the new Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves headlined this morning’s Pokémon Presents show and really ended the show with a bang. We’ve already covered the reveal of these two games, but a series of additional details have emerged since then, so let’s dive right in!

Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves

The new Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are, of course, developed by the long-time (forever) monster studio, GAME FREAK. The games are specially designed for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles.

Winds and Waves will take players to an open world to explore “beautiful windswept islands and vast seas with sparkling waves” where Pokémon have created their own unique environment in “the region’s fertile environment.”

During this adventure, you will meet all kinds of Pokémon to overcome the difficult road ahead and the forces of nature that sometimes block your way.

According to the official Pokémon site, your main character will be able to sport different outfits depending on which version of the game you are playing – Spirits or Waves.

Pokémon Winds and Waves are starting Pokémon

We got our first look at the new Pokémon from Winds and Waves in today’s first look trailer as well.

Players will have the choice of teaming up with a grass-type known as Browt – a “lively but awkward Bean Chick Pokémon” – or a “mindless and friendly” fire-type Puppy Pokémon known as Pombon. Finally, we have the Water type known as Gecqua – the intelligent Water Gecko Pokémon.

Two new types of Pikachu

At the beginning of the trailer during a special cinematic, before we get into the actual game, we got a look at a special new Pikachu, dressed appropriately for the game’s new tropical setting. Now we know that these two beautiful guests are known as Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, but that’s all we know for now.

The trailer also showed a special Pikachu with a new look. We will have to wait a while to learn that Mr. Windychu and Ms. How Wavychu will be involved in the adventure.

Additionally, The Pokémon Company announced that Winds and Waves will be the first Pokémon games to support Brazilian Portuguese “as players can choose their own language. Now, even more fans around the world will be able to play this new game in their native language!”

Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are set for simultaneous release worldwide in 2027 and you can check out the first official trailer below:
