Catch them all!/Pokémon Day
Happy Pokémon Day 2026 Trainers! Today’s festivities begin with the launch of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and the release of new Pokémon LEGO sets, both of which are now live. Shortly after, The Pokémon Company will host this year’s special 30th anniversary Pokémon Presents event to preview what’s coming to the Pokéverse this year – the TCG, mobile titles, new Switch games, and more.
Pokémon Day 2026

Pokémon Day 2026 is here and this year is going to be special. February 27 is always Pokémon Day but this year’s festivities mark exactly 30 years since the original Pokémon Red and Blue were released in 1996 and The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, and others have big plans lined up for new content, game releases, and more.
In fact, it’s already been a pretty notable year for pocket monsters, with the reveal of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen earlier this week, the new LEGO sets teased last year hitting store shelves this morning, and our first good look at Pokémon Pokopia gameplay. But there is still more to come.

Pokémon Presents
Today The Pokémon Company will host a Pokémon Presents live show. We’re expecting more “exciting updates and announcements” from across the Kanto Region and beyond, new Switch games, mobile games, and probably a lot more than that.
Today’s Pokémon Day 30th Anniversary Pokémon Presents show will be live in the US at 6 am PT/9 am ET and you can watch it on the official public channels (we’ll post the embed as soon as it goes live). We expect the show to run about 25 minutes, but you never know in the 30th anniversary year.
What to expect from today’s Pokémon Presents
We’re looking forward to the Pokémon GameCube announcement – both Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness are already confirmed to be coming to the GameCube Switch Online Nintendo Classics library, and today seems like the perfect time to announce the release.
It is very possible that we will see all new content and reveal Pokémon TCG, Pokémon TCG Pocket, Pokémon Cafe Remix, and Pokémon Go, but I think what we all want to see is the new Gen 10 Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
One of this year’s biggest Pokémon Day announcements and revelations may have already happened when Nintendo revealed that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen will be coming to the eShop as standalone experiences for the Switch and Switch 2. Both titles are now on the eShop (scheduled for release immediately after today’s Pokémon Presents) to bring your current Nintendo monster action.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, fittingly for this 30th anniversary year, is a remake of the original Pokémon Red and Blue released on the Game Boy Advance. It might not be the real Pokémon Red and Blue, but it’s pretty close all things considered. You can read more about the new Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Nintendo Switch right here.

30th anniversary Pokémon Day announcements and more
Today also brought us the release of Eevee, Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in LEGO brick form – get all the details on the new LEGO sets right here – and much more ahead of today’s Pokémon Presents show, but you’ll want to stay tuned as we expect big things from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company today.

We’ll have a video of all the announcements on our official YouTube channel before we head to the Pokémon Day festivities at the Nintendo Store NEW YORK later today – stay tuned!
Catch them all!
