Diablo 4 gets Warlock, DOOM cosmetics, and Paladin free trial

Today Blizzard pulled back the veil on what’s next for Diablo 4, and the Warlock is the second new class arriving with Lord of Hatred on April 28. We’ve been excited about the Warlock in Diablo 2: Awakened, but today is the first time we’ve heard more about how it will play out in Diablo 4.
The developer’s in-depth look at how the class plays, how to build, and what to expect from the King of Hate expansion, as well as more details on Season of Assassination, which kicks off on March 11.
“Warlock is like a new dream for Diablo 4, its identity is based on rebellion and heavy metal attitude. Warlock’s chaos is unstoppable, constantly changing the battlefield.”
🔥TEST: Diablo 4’s Warlock Discussion!
Core gameplay and class identity
A Warlock is a Willpower-based Caster who uses two resources: Wrath for direct destructive spells and the ability to summon and support demons. That dual-use design means you’ll be balancing quick damage with pet handling and positioning.
- Two resources – Anger fuels your spells; Dominate with the power of your demons (separation looks similar to Diablo 3’s Demon Hunter)
- Pet control – You can summon demons, control where they go and decide how long they stay
- Combo Powers – Abilities built for interaction, allowing you to touch and create powerful reactions
The Warlock is a class that combines spectacle and strategic choice, expect moments that feel cinematic while still rewarding deliberate play.
Soul bits and pieces
At the heart of Warlock is the Soul Shard system. Choose one of the four main shars to lock in the main playstlye, then choose from three options of pieces to further develop. Each chart binds a unique demon and changes the feel of the class from bottom to top.
- Legion – Create multiple bodies of demons to conquer and attack in chains.
- Vanguard – The best mobile demon that suppresses enemies with movement.
- Mastermind – A control-oriented shadow demon that controls enemy placement.
- Ritualist – Contribute to demons to unleash energy with bursts of damage
The shard plus fragment layout should make it easy to create unique Warlock archetypes without needing a spreadsheet to get started.
The exception is the demons who sign
Many of Warlock’s abilities have variations that change their behavior, giving you options between chaos and precise control.
- Rampage – Summons a brutal attack that rips through enemies.
- Sigil of summons – Make rituals to summon more scary things.
- The place of Abaddon – Summon a giant demon with a two-handed hell sword.
“The Slaughter Season will be a short and difficult season”
Season of Slaughter launches on March 11 and introduces the ability to transform into The Butcher, a new Slaughterhouses mission, Killstreaks for instant kill rewards, and DOOM collaborations and themed cosmetics.
Earn the Shield Saw skin, Slayer’s Flail, Head of the Cyberdemon back trophy, and more.
Paladin’s free trial starts on March 11th
Blizzard also announced a free trial for Paladin from March 11 to March 18 that allows players to try out the base game and Paladin up to level 25 without prior purchase.
If you decide to pre-purchase Lord of Hatred, you will receive the following bonus in-game rewards that you can use for the new season.
Lord of Hate will add nearly twice as many monsters as previous expansions, including sea monsters, chimeric abominations, and returning favorites like the rat lord.
