Samsung Health and Wallet want to reduce the complexity of managing your finances

What you need to know
- Samsung has announced that it is introducing drug coupons in the Health app, which works in conjunction with its Wallet app.
- Users who track medications may see a discount for the prescription they will need, which can be sent to the Wallet to be paid for at a lower price.
- Samsung Health’s latest updates include collaborations with medical companies to improve its health record features and medication tracking.
Samsung has announced a new feature coming out this week that aims to integrate its Health and Wallet apps for the user’s benefit.
In a press release, Samsung said its Health and Wallet apps will soon work together to help consumers save money on prescriptions. The post says this feature will be kept within the Medications Tracker in the Health app. From there, users can “monitor prescriptions, search for discounts at more than 70,000 pharmacies.” Samsung cautions that this pharmacy count depends on the number of locations there actually participate.

People need medication for many different things, and there are times when this can be very difficult. I have had to help others track their medications. Buying them is an entirely different discussion. Discounts are rare. However, if Samsung can consistently track those down and present them to consumers, that could work wonders for people.
Regardless, when coupons appear, and for a pharmacy near you, users can save that coupon to Wallet. Shoppers who move to the checkout will see the coupon for their medication there, and can quickly select it before completing the transaction.
Samsung did not say when users would see drug coupons from its Health app. However, since its announcement has been posted, we can probably expect to start seeing it later this week and throughout March.
Medication tracking
Samsung touted the ability for users to track their medications in its Health app, a feature they added a few years ago. The feature, simply called Medicines, gives users the ability to manage everything from prescriptions to purchases. More importantly, management is nothing but helpful alerts, which is another aspect of this. Users can customize them while viewing detailed information about what they are taking.

It’s a whole process of trying to get involved with your health records and everything in between. If you consider the visit itself, the talk with the doctor, then the result, probably tired. In my experience, I’ve seen people get tired and completely resistant to trying to read or understand what the hell that is – it’s too much paper. I can see where Samsung has pushed its Health system. It is positioned as a useful and easy-to-manage application, as it contains everything important without much variation.
Samsung then moved on to improve the availability of their medication tracker, along with other health record updates and meal planning. The company said it has partnered with healthcare companies to do this, and in a way that makes sense to the user. For health records, the company has partnered with b.well Connected Health. This is where users who opt in to this feature will see their saved data. This allows you to view lab records, medical records, and more in the Health app.
