3 new Prime Video movies to stream this weekend (March 6-8)

Weekends are made for streaming great movies, and if you’re looking for the right choice to spend your precious viewing time, Prime Video’s huge library offers plenty of options.
However, “decision paralysis” is a real problem, and sometimes I find myself wasting an awful lot of time scrolling through streaming service catalogs, and that’s time that could be better spent watching movies. So, to help you avoid falling into that same trap, I’ve tracked you down and found three new arrivals on Prime Video that I believe you should stream right now.
This ranges from a Caribbean-set revenge thriller to a gritty crime drama, and a comedy that features one of Nicolas Cage’s funniest, yet smartest, roles to date. These are the three new movies on Prime Video that you should watch this weekend.
‘The Bluff’ (2026)
Watch it open
The Prime Video producer’s swashbuckling action-thriller “The Bluff” claimed the No. 1 spot on the top 10 domestically watched list within 24 hours of its Feb. 1 release. 25, and is still there as the first week of March draws to a close. I’m not upset about this either. It’s a cut above many of Prime Video’s latest movies, and a stark reminder that we really need more pirated movies. It is full of brutal action and packs a villain and a super hero.
Ercell Booden (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) lives a peaceful life in the Cayman Islands with his son and sister-in-law. Awaiting the return of her sailor husband (Ismael Cruz Córdova), Ercell learns that you can never escape the past when pirates wash over paradise, seeking revenge and gold. It turns out that Ercell used to be a feared pirate who lives on the seven seas known as the Bloody Mary, and his former partner in crime, Captain Connor (Karl Urban), has some old school to get right.

‘The Place Without the Pines’ (2012)
Watch it open
“The Place Beyond the Pines” fully deserves the label of “great crime drama”. That’s not because it’s full of big set pieces, but because of its multi-generational narrative, which changes the perspective of the character and examines the period of two decades. It also has an incredibly packed cast, including Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne, Mahershala Ali, and a young Dane DeHaan.
It’s hard to give you the full scope of the story of “The Place Beyond the Pines” without going into spoiler territory, but the story begins with a carnival stunt driver (Gosling) learning that his ex-lover (Mendes) had given birth to his son the previous year. Determined to support his young family, he turns to crime, mainly robbing banks. This puts him on a collision course with a cop (Cooper), and that’s just part of this crime drama.

‘The Unbearable Weight of Top Talent’ (2022)
Watch it open
Nicolas Cage is notorious for his willingness to take on absurd projects, and “The Unbearable Weight of Talent” may be one of his off-the-wall roles yet. In this comedy, Cage plays a superior version of himself. This could have been ridiculous or self-indulgent, but somehow it all comes together to deliver a movie that is surprisingly well-informed, very funny and full of clever villains.
Actor Nick Cage (as noted, played by Cage) is at a crossroads in his career, struggling for a career and tormented by perceptions of his younger, more successful self. He takes a $1 million offer to appear as the guest of honor at the birthday party of big fan Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal). Soon after, Cage finds himself in trouble when the CIA asks him to spy on Gutierrez, who they suspect has kidnapped the daughter of an anti-crime politician.
