The iPhone 18 Pro May Not Have a Small Power Island After All

Apple’s 18 Pro models may not have a smaller Dynamic Island after all, despite rumors suggesting it will see a size reduction this year, according to a well-known leaker.

Citing the latest supply chain information, the leaker known as “Digital Chat Channel” claims that the iPhone 18 Pro models may reuse some of the previous mold types and chassis designs. Face ID and Dynamic Island will remain “substantially unchanged,” with plans to implement Face ID being shown below and the reduced size of Dynamic Island apparently now delayed to the next generation. Instead, the main upgrade will be the 2nm A20 Pro, a 5,000mAh+ battery, and improved wide-angle camera hardware.

There has been a lot of disagreement among reliable sources on the iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island. In the past year, there have been mixed rumors about whether the iPhone 18 Pro models will continue to have Dynamic Island or have a punch camera under the screen Face ID and no Dynamic Island.

In January, things became clearer when Weibo leakers “Instant Digital,” “ShrimpApplePro,” and DSCC’s Ross Young supported the rumor that there was a small Dynamic Island. BloombergMark Gurman then independently reported that the device will have a small Dynamic Island.

So the latest rumors from “Digital Chat Station” seem to be against the grain, but not out of the question. We heard similar rumors about a smaller iPhone 17 Pro Dynamic Island last year, but the Dynamic Island finally ended up being the same size.

In the long run, Apple apparently wants to build an iPhone that is a slab of uncut glass, and we may see that with the 20th anniversary iPhone in 2027. The iPhone 18‌ Pro and iPhone 18‌ Pro Max are expected to launch in the fall of 2026.
