These phones just got a second discount in the Amazon Spring Sale

Compared to other deal events throughout the year, Amazon’s Spring Deal Days sales so far feel underwhelming. True blue articles are few and far between, only a select few are worth your time.

Interestingly, however, there are two such phone deals that’s big enough for my standards it just got sweetened by the second price drop. They were already making interesting offers to begin with, so this unexpected additional discount lowers both prices.

First, we have them OnePlus 15Ra powerful sub-flagship phone that started dropping from an average price (calculated over the last 90 days) of £643 down to £569. This second drop knocks another £20 off the price tag, reduced to £549 – the cheapest ever.

I No Phone (3a)on the other hand, it’s a stylish mid-range phone that’s been priced firmly in the budget zone, dropping from an average price of £293 (calculated over the past 180 days) to just £239. The second discount only brings it down by an extra tenner, bringing it down to a a record low of £229but that is still a cheap price.

Why should I buy the OnePlus 15R?

The OnePlus 15R is surprisingly powerful for its price, running rings around our competitors in the CPU test and delivering smooth gameplay at 60fps, even when faced with the most demanding graphics settings. In fact, it’s one of my top mid-range gaming phones right now.

Battery life is outstanding, too; the OnePlus 15R is equipped with a large 7,400mAh battery and it performed very well in our standard loop video battery test, lasting 37hrs 9mins. That’s one of the best results I’ve seen on a phone of any price, let alone a mid-range one like this one.

The 6.83in AMOLED display proved to be very bright and color accurate in my testing, and the 50-megapixel main camera delivered crisp, colorful images in good light, as well as natural-looking night shots. The 8-megapixel ultrawide isn’t quite as sharp but still produces decent colors and details that are worth using.

The last thing to watch out for is Mind Space AI, which collects screenshots, notes and voice recordings and organizes them smartly into easily accessible folders. It’s one of the most useful and intuitive AI packages out there, and it works very well in testing.

Why should I buy Nothing Phone (3a)?

Thankfully, the Nothing Phone (3a) has one of the best AI packages on the market, and is very similar to OnePlus’ offering. Essential Space does the same job of smartly organizing and organizing your photography, with Google Gemini integration that enables smart searching and recall over time. It’s even more impressive to get strong AI in a phone this cheap.

Equally, you’ll be hard-pressed to find many phones that include a telephoto camera for this kind of money. The 2x lens on the Nothing Phone (3a) is a lovely little shooter that’s perfect for portrait photography. The main camera is good in good light, too, with natural colors and a strong dynamic range – although the budget nature of this phone starts to show with night photography, where details can be a little difficult.

Rounding out the package is a clean AMOLED display that achieved impressive brightness and color accuracy in my tests, fantastic battery life that ran our streaming video for over 30 hours and a unique design with fun and quirky Glyph backlights.

What are the worst cases?

Since I recently praised Nothing for including a telephoto camera, I will now comment on its lack of OnePlus 15R. Its predecessor, the OnePlus 13R, offered a telephoto camera, so the omission of the 15R is a real shame. I’d also like to see wireless charging for this kind of money: you get 80W fast wired charging, but all its main competitors include wireless charging.

There is also software support to consider. The OnePlus 15R offers four solid years of OS updates and six security patches, which is good enough but falls short of the best in this price range. I Google Pixel 10afor example, it is designed for seven years of best-in-class support.

Turning our attention to the Nothing Phone (3a), I have very few complaints, especially when judged on this ridiculously low deal price. The Key Key that activates the AI ​​features is in a passive, right-side-down position (see above), and software support includes three years of OS updates. But these feel light compared to everything else this phone gets right.

Which one should I buy?

Despite the obvious price difference – those on a tight budget will find the Nothing Phone (3a) much kinder to their wallet – there are a few areas where each phone excels.

Choose the OnePlus 15R if you tend to engage in mobile gaming and want a phone that can keep up with you; I played Genshin: Impact at the highest graphics settings, and the OnePlus 15R kept frames locked at a smooth 60fps. Equally, good battery life means you can while on a train journey kill monsters and the like and still have power to last the day.

Go to Nothing Phone (3a) if you’re looking for something that looks different in the sea of ​​samey smartphones on the market – the exposed aesthetic componentry and the Glyph backlights are sure to catch the eye. Regular portrait shooters will appreciate the telephoto camera, and those who often stream on the go will benefit from the combination of a bright, powerful display and excellent battery life.
