Stop what you’re doing, Apple fans, because the day is finally here: AirPods Max 2 is here!
After months, even years, of speculation, the complete sequel to the AirPods Max five-star earphones has officially arrived, teasing better ANC performance, better sound and new features powered by Apple’s forward-looking H2 chip.

There are also new Apple features on the menu. Adaptive Audio automatically adjusts noise cancellation levels due to ambient noise, while active ‘Live Translation’ translates conversations in real time – two features we’ve already seen used in the five-star AirPods Pro 3 earbuds.
Handsfree features also aim to make the new headphones more accessible on the go. The camera remote allows users to take photos or record videos by pressing the ‘Digital Crown’ while using the Camera app or compatible third-party camera apps on an iPhone or iPad.
‘Siri Interactions’, in contrast, allow users to respond to Siri’s announcements by nodding or shaking their heads.
According to Apple’s director of Audio Product Marketing, Eric Teski: “With the incredible performance of the H2, AirPods Max are enhanced with up to 1.5x better ANC performance for the perfect all-day listening experience. The sound quality is amazingly clean, rich, and richly detailed, and when combined with capabilities like Personalized Spatial Audio, AirPods are AirPods Maxfoundly.” But then he said…
The Apple AirPods Max 2 will be available to order on March 25th, priced at £499 / $549, in a choice of Starlight (the perfect gold/silver seen on other Apple devices), Orange, Purple or Blue colourways.
We’ve been waiting a long time for second-generation headphones, so seeing the Max 2 arrive – at the same price as its predecessors, not less – is a big deal.
