Nvidia CloudXR details for visionOS 26.4, enabling ‘Immersive for Autodesk VRED’ app

Last week, we learned that visionOS 26.4 enables Nvidia CloudXR 6.0 technology in Apple Vision Pro. Now Nvidia is officially announcing its work with Apple, creating a new “Immersive for Autodesk VRED” program and more.

CloudXR for visionOS

At the top level, Nvidia’s CloudXR 6.0 is the first software development kit developed in partnership with Apple that allows sharing of user viewing data. Nvidia’s SDK enables doing so over a private and secure connection.

This allows foveated streaming at 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate without being tied to a PC. Nvidia also provides cross-platform Xcode templates to speed up development. This means app developers can build and run on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.

Nvidia says it’s building on the incredible independent reliability of Apple Vision Pro to meet true and realistic business needs:

At the NVIDIA GTC global AI conference taking place this week in San Jose, NVIDIA and Apple
detailed how visionOS now supports NVIDIA CloudXR with foveated streaming, enabling
applications for displaying high-resolution, low-latency content on Apple Vision Pro. This
The feature intelligently optimizes the rendering based on where the user is
looks, while strictly protecting the user’s viewing data.

The need for XR and local computing workloads share three key requirements:
high-fidelity visuals at 4K resolution, real-time and full response rates
immersion. CloudXR for visionOS enables all three.

We’ve already learned how X-Plane 12 brings “the world’s most advanced flight simulator” to Apple Vision Pro using Nvidia CloudXR technology, and iRacing will likewise join the playground for visionOS enthusiasts.

In addition to improved gameplay

Beyond enhanced gaming, Nvidia is defining multiple business applications across industries including automotive and manufacturing through collaborative 1:1 scale updates and digital twin engineers.

For example, VOLVO uses the new “Immersive for Autodesk VRED” Apple Vision Pro program that will soon be available in the App Store.

With this new integration, users can install Apple Vision Pro and expand their space
computer workflows with applications such as Autodesk VRED’s Immersive, powered by Innoactive’s
XR streaming solutions, streamed automatically and from NVIDIA RTX
technology – from NVIDIA RTX PRO workstations to GeForce RTX GPUs – is on
PCs or in the cloud. […]

Autodesk VRED, coming later this spring, is powered by Autodesk with
Innoactive, revolutionizing the design review process for automotive giants including BMW Group, Kia, Rivian and Volvo Group. Designers using Autodesk VRED can now visualize
larger models with RTX-powered ray tracing at 1:1 scale in Apple Vision Pro.

Nvidia also points to Foxconn, which uses the technology to visualize factory flows, and Switch, which works on remote data center management using digital twin technology. Some applications extend to health care.
