Save £850 on one of the best OLED TVs we’ve ever reviewed with this sneaky discount code

When it comes to the best TVs we’ve ever tested, there’s one set that stands out from the rest with a top pick, a five-star review, and a What Hi-Fi? The launch prize – and that’s the Sony Bravia 8 II.
Although it would set you back £2499, how about £850 off? That’s right, the 55-inch model can be yours for just £1649 from Richer Sounds. It’s not the lowest price we’ve seen, dropping to £1619 just before Christmas, but it’s not far off.
Fortunately, when we tested the Sony Bravia 8 II, it was the 55-inch model that we got our hands on and in a Daft Punk-inspired decision, we called it: “Better, brighter, sharper, cheaper,” than its predecessor, the amazing A95L as well.
And with that accolade, it should come as no surprise that the Bravia 8 II was awarded TV Product of the Year at the 2025 What Hi-Fi? Prizes.
With a QD-OLED panel combined with Sony processing and a custom heatsink, this model is 25 percent brighter than the A95L. And, with increased contrast comes increased color reproduction and superior shadow detail with Sony’s XR Processor, which includes a new AI spatial recognition system.
And when it comes to picture performance, our expert testers say: “The Sony Bravia 8 II is a truly exceptional TV. Its combination of brilliant brightness, vibrant colors at all brightness levels, terrific shadow detail and razor-sharp sharpness combine to produce a picture with consistently stunning contrast, depth and realism.”
Characteristically, it is full. There is full onboard support for Dolby Vision and Atmos, and IMAX Enhanced is also confirmed. Like all previous Sony TVs, it doesn’t support HDR10+, but the usual HDR10 and HLG HDR formats are still there.
For gamers, it’s quite a bargain with a TV that supports 4K/120Hz, VRR and ALLM. Also, Dolby Vision Game mode, as well as ‘Perfect for PlayStation 5’ functionality, which automatically dials in accurate HDR settings when connected to PS5.
There is a small caveat that should be mentioned, however. The Bravia 8 II only has two HDMI 2.1 inputs (plus two standard HDMI inputs) and one of those 2.1 inputs doubles as an eARC port.
On the audio front, the Bravia 8 II has the same Acoustic Surface Audio+ setup as the A95L, with two actuators that vibrate the screen itself to reproduce sound, and two subwoofers that provide bass support. This led us to say in our full review: “In short, the Bravia 8 II sounds very similar to the A95L, which means it’s one of the best-sounding TVs you can buy.
“We still believe a picture as good as this needs to be paired with a dedicated sound system, but this is one of those rare TVs that can’t be instantly improved with the addition of a cheap sound bar.”
For those looking for exceptional picture quality with minimal setup effort and outstanding (by TV standards) built-in sound, the Sony Bravia 8 II will truly please. And with £850 off Richer Sounds, it’s hard to pass up.
