Pioneer Sphera with aftermarket Dolby Atmos with CarPlay is now available
At CES 2026, Pioneer announced its new Sphera in-dash receiver with support for the premium CarPlay feature:
Building on decades of audio innovation, Pioneer, a global leader in car audio and aftermarket car electronics, introduces SPHERA, the world’s first aftermarket audio receiver to include Dolby Atmos® playback on Apple CarPlay. Until now, in-car Dolby Atmos has only been available on models equipped with audio systems that use Dolby Atmos. With SPHERA, Pioneer extends the reach of Dolby Atmos through an aftermarket solution that can be installed in millions of existing vehicles, delivering an immersive sound experience using the speakers already in the vehicle.
The Pioneer Sphera (model DMH-WT8000NEX) is now available for purchase.
Before now, Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio in the car were only offered in select cars with limited options available. Apple also supports Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio on its audio products, including AirPods and HomePods.

Pioneer brings Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio to all cars with an advanced 4-channel solution that takes advantage of the existing front and rear speakers. This is possible thanks to Pioneer’s “Pure Autotuning” technology.
Automotive cabins vary widely in size, design, and materials, and aftermarket upgrades can further influence acoustical dynamics. To respond and adapt to these differences, PURE Autotuning technology precisely adjusts timing, frequency response, and channel levels to improve performance and place the listener in the acoustical center. This level of precision is critical to delivering Dolby Atmos performance that is true to the artistic intent of artists and content creators.

It’s all part of the Sphera, a 10.1-inch HD display with Pioneer’s advanced features:
Taking advantage of the large screen size, split-screen mode reserves part of the screen for easy access to important features and controls. The Pioneer Luminous integrated bar adds a subtle visual signature to the dash, featuring an Enhanced View Mode for navigation support and a Music Sync Mode to sync your lighting and sound. Wireless connectivity keeps the experience streamlined with wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto™, and Bluetooth®. Designed for universal aftermarket installation, the SPHERA fits a wide range of vehicles with minimal modifications, ensuring that focused sound reaches drivers without an overly complex upgrade process.
Crutchfield has the new Pioneer Sphera for a retail price of $1,299.99, and it’s shipping now.
It sounds like a great solution if you’re considering adding wireless CarPlay to your existing car, especially for Apple Music listeners.
