Apple gave Perplexity a shout out during the Q2 2026 earnings call yesterday, and now the company is giving more details on why it’s building its Mac-first Personal Computer platform. Here are the details.

Last month, Perplexity announced Your Computer, a Mac-native platform designed primarily to run on the Mac mini (although it can run on any Mac) and act as a personal assistant for agents running in their local and cloud environments.

The personal computer is the future of work. It brings multi-model orchestration to your machine, working across local files, apps, and the web in a single system. On the Mac mini, it works 24/7, allowing you to start work on your phone and return to it when you’re done.
According to the company, Personal Computer’s biggest advantage is the recognition that a useful AI agent should work in both on-premise and cloud environments, rather than being limited to “a chat window or working inside a machine that you see alone next to your applications.”
Perplexity adds that the Personal Computer “builds on the continuity Apple users have come to expect to get work done wherever they are.”
Yesterday, Apple CFO Kevan Parekh talked about the product during Apple’s Q2 2026 conference call, citing it as an example of developers choosing the Mac as a platform for “business-grade AI assistants:”
With Apple silicon and this powerful unified memory architecture, leading AI developers, such as Perplexity, choose the Mac as their preferred platform for building business AI assistants that empower autonomous agents and increase workplace productivity.
His comments came in the context of Mac mini and Mac Studio being sold in several countries around the world, due to the success of agent platforms such as Personal Computer. Apple will later confirm that availability will remain significantly delayed for several months.
Interestingly, Parekh’s comments came after Perplexity’s invite-only Ask NYC event, where the company’s CEO Aravind Srinivas emphasized the fact that his company’s Personal Computer works “on any Mac, with the Mac mini as one of the best ways to make the most of it.”
He also pointed out that since its launch, Personal Computer has “generated over $2.8B in work-related activity for Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers.
At the event, Perplexity also announced a series of business-focused updates to Your Computer, including support for Microsoft Teams, native Excel integration now in beta, a new workflow feature for repetitive tasks, and deep data connectors with Snowflake and Databricks.
Perplexity also announced a partnership with 1Password that will allow Personal Computer to work within authenticated tools without exposing user information to the model.
