Learn how to set a redial reminder directly in the iPhone phone app so you don’t forget to return the call.
If someone calls you, and you don’t want to answer immediately, you can use the “Remind me” option in the call interface to be notified that you will call back in an hour or after leaving the current location.
But what if you want to be reminded to call back someone you missed, or someone you already talked to but have something important to follow up on later? For example, when my bank’s relationship manager calls me, I usually pick up, and if something requires a follow-up call, I use the call reminder feature so I don’t forget.
If you make and receive a lot of calls, the built-in call reminder feature can act as an assistant, notifying you to call someone again.
Set a redial reminder on iPhone
- Open the Phone app and go through your recent call log.
- To set a callback reminder, swipe left on a mobile or FaceTime call entry, then tap small clock icon.
- Choose to be reminded in 1 hour, tonight, tomorrow, or tap remind me later to set a custom date and time. Selecting the custom option displays the Reminders app interface, where you can enter details as needed.

When it’s time to call again…
You’ll receive a time-sensitive notification on your iPhone, with a tap that will take you to the iOS Reminders app. From there, press a little Phone icon area carefully placing the wire. You can also tap the info button ⓘ next to the reminder, then tap the call button on the next screen.

In my opinion, it would be much better if you tap or touching and holding this reminder notification showed the redial option, thus removing one extra step to the Reminders app. But as of now, doing so shows options to reschedule the reminder or mark it as completed.
See all your call reminders
If you use new and automatic Included Phone app style, all your driving reminders will be identified by the appropriate name’Reminders‘ section at the top of the Phone calls tab.

However, if you switch to The old one Phone app style, you can see your redial reminders in ‘Today‘or’Scheduled‘ iOS components Reminders app.
Set a reminder to call back
You can make changes to the time and other things in the Reminders app, just like you normally do. Or, you can swipe left on a recent call with a reminder set, and tap clock icon. Now, choose to do Edit Reminders and make the necessary changes.

Mark the callback reminder as complete
Mark it as done in the Reminders app, or swipe left on a call entry in the Phone app, and tap ‘Mark as complete.’ The latter will not take you to the Reminders app.
If you swipe left on a recent call and tap the red trash icon, it will remove that call entry from your recent calls list, as well as any callback reminders you have set.
What do you think of this little feature? As someone who usually doesn’t answer calls right away, I’m sure I find it useful.
