The SwitchBot announced the Weather Stationnew interactive home display weather information, environmental monitoring, calendar integration, scene controlleragain reminders on one device.
Weather Station uses 2.4GHz WiFi to connect to your network, and 7.5″ E-Ink DisplayWeather Station is designed to provide essential indoor information at a glance, while providing up to one year of battery life between cases. Although not mentioned in the company’s announcement, the device can be featured in it Apple Home and so on Platforms for the story when paired with the Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub, which allows its programmable buttons to be used for scenes and automations outside of the SwitchBot ecosystem.
CLIMATE AND ENVIRONMENT
The Weather Channel brings together a range of weather and environmental information in one display. The screen can display indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, current weather conditions, air quality data, sunrise and sunset times, and a five-day weather forecast. The E-Ink display provides a paper-like experience that remains easy to read all day long, while the built-in backlight ensures information remains visible in dark environments. The device can be wall-mounted or placed on a desk, making it perfect for living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, home offices, or entryways.
The Weather Station includes built-in weather and humidity sensors and supports up to three compatible SwitchBot environmental sensors that connect to them via Bluetooth. This allows users to monitor conditions in many areas around the home, including living spaces, pet areas, garages, patios, gardens, and greenhouses. Historical environmental data is available in the SwitchBot app, helping users track long-term trends. When paired with the SwitchBot Hub, users can also receive notifications when temperatures or humidity exceed pre-defined thresholds.
COMPOSITION OF A COMPREHENSIVE CALENDAR
In addition to monitoring the weather, Weather Station can serve as a family information hub thanks to support for Google Calendar, Apple iCloud Calendar, and Microsoft Outlook. The display supports one-way synchronization with up to five different calendars, allowing users to view upcoming appointments, work schedules, school events, reminders, and household chores without picking up a phone. Up to 30 events per person can be displayed each day.
AUTOMATIC PROVISIONS
SwitchchBot offers six display themes, allowing users to customize the information displayed on the screen according to their needs. Available features include Location Data, Daily Overview, Calendar, Countdown, Daily Verse, and Custom Text. Users can switch between themes through the SwitchBot app, with a custom text mode that allows personalized messages or other user-generated information to be displayed. SwitchchBot also notes that Custom Text can work with OpenClaw, allowing users to display externally available information such as public transit times and other customized content.
SMART HOME MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The Weather Station includes two programmable scene buttons that can be configured through the SwitchBot app to control devices or activate predefined scenes. Examples include turning lights on or off, opening or closing curtains, controlling humidifiers, or activating Home and Away modes.
For users invested in the Matter compatible ecosystem, the device provides additional functionality. When paired with a Matter-enabled SwitchBot Hub and added to platforms like Apple Home, the two buttons are exposed as programmable Matter controls. This allows them to trigger automations and scenes directly within Apple Home and other Matter platforms, making the Weather Channel a useful visual controller and information display.
BATTERY HEALTH AND ALARMS
Power comes from a built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery, and the SwitchchBot claims one year of operation on a single charge when the display refreshes every three hours while connected to Wi-Fi. The device can also be powered via USB-C and features support for up to three alarms with a snooze function. Users can choose from three volume levels, while a dedicated top button can be used to snooze or snooze alarms.
