MagSafe battery banks: The best choice for your iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and more

With the iPhone Air, Apple reintroduced the MagSafe battery pack. It’s $99, and it’s specially designed for the iPhone Air. It’s very small, although it’s relatively weak – which makes the Qi2 alternatives very interesting. We’ll be looking at the top options on the market, in case you’re looking for a high-end MagSafe battery for your iPhone, even if you’re not buying an iPhone Air.

Since Apple opened the MagSafe standard as Qi2, third parties have been able to make MagSafe chargers with 15W charging support. Before that, third parties only offered 7.5W with the first Qi standard.

Another interesting fact: Apple’s iPhone Air MagSafe battery only supports up to 12W charging, except that the iPhone Air supports up to 20W charging with MagSafe. That means third-party options are strong in the charging speed department. We’ll be getting into that.

Anchor

First things first is the Anker Nano Power Bank. This is the mid-range option on the list, but it comes first because I’ve had a lot of hands-on time with it and can speak firsthand about how thin it is, and how premium it feels. It charges your devices at 15W thanks to Qi2, offers a capacity of 5000mAh, and runs cooler than the competition. You can pick up black or white for $54.99 on Amazon.

Baseus

While I haven’t personally spent time with this battery bank, I’ve spent enough time with other Baseus products to know that this will be a good option. The cheapest option on this list, it comes in at just $24.99 right now. It’s as thin as Anker’s, while offering a 5000mAh capacity.

The main caveat here is the fact that this power bank does not support Qi2, so you will be limited to 7.5W of charging speed. That can be annoying if you’re trying to recharge your phone slowly, although you can also use the USB-C cable for 20W wired charging if it really comes down to it.

GREEN

This UGREEN option isn’t as small as the others, but it’s here for a good reason. It offers a capacity of 10000mAh, and also supports Qi2.2. That makes it capable of recharging devices up to 25W, and is not yet widely supported in the market. You’ll need an iPhone 16 or later to use Qi2.2.

If form factor isn’t a big concern, and you just want more battery capacity in a MagSafe battery, this is the best choice. Like all the other options, it also supports 30W wireless charging via the USB-C port, faster than others on the list – and it has a built-in USB-C cable if you need one.

It’s available on Amazon for $59.99, and comes in cool colors like orange and blue to match the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air respectively.

Belkin

Unlike everything else on this list, this Belkin 25W battery bank has a second MagSafe ring on the back, which allows you to attach another MagSafe accessory while using the battery. It’s great if you’re using a MagSafe case, a continuous camera, or anything similar – although this doesn’t support charging. You will still need to charge the battery bank with a cable.

That said, it packs a 10000mAh capacity, and has a nice kickstand behind it to place your phone on the table. It’s a small thing, but it’s totally out of control. There is a nifty LED display on the side that will also show the actual battery capacity. You can read my full hands-on coverage here.
