Apple has released the fourth beta of iOS 27 for developer testing. The build number is 23G71. iOS 27 beta 4 replaces the third beta of iOS 27, which had two release versions, and continues Apple’s summer beta cycle before the public release this fall. We will review our devices and share what we find.
Apple releases the fourth developer beta of iOS 27 for testing
The fourth developer beta is available now through the Settings app on eligible iPhones. If you’re signed up for the Apple Developer Program, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates and select iOS 27 Developer Beta.
Apple released the first public beta of iOS 27 on July 13. Today’s release will likely be iOS 27 public beta 2 next week. The final version for everyone will arrive this fall.
As always with developer betas, you should still expect bugs, battery life drops, app compatibility issues, and other rough edges.
iOS 27 is all about Siri AI
iOS 27 is one of Apple’s most focused iPhone updates to date. The title change is Siri AI, Apple’s redesigned assistant supported by the next generation of Apple Intelligence and the new models of the Apple Foundation.
Siri AI brings rich conversations, personal context, comprehensive world knowledge, on-screen awareness, and deep app actions across the system.

On the iPhone, Siri AI also gets a new visual experience tied to Dynamic Island, as well as a dedicated Siri app to revisit conversations across devices.
Visual Intelligence joins Siri as well, including a new Siri mode in the Camera app and improvements to Camera Control on iPhone.

Apple Intelligence also extends to all applications. iOS 27 adds AI-powered improvements to Photos, Safari, Passwords, Mail, Messages, Phone, Shortcuts, Home, and more. As we round up our breakdown of Apple’s new base models, some capabilities run on the device, while others use Private Cloud Compute.
Not all iOS 27 AI features will work on all iPhones. iOS 27 itself supports iPhone 11 and later, as well as iPhone SE 2 and newer, but Siri AI requires new hardware compatible with Apple Intelligence. Apple’s most powerful AI device models have strict requirements, including the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air.
Other iOS 27 features and changes
Beyond Siri and Apple Intelligence, iOS 27 includes a variety of iPhone-specific changes. Apple has refined the Liquid Glass design introduced last year, including a new Liquid Glass slider to adjust the look of the UI system.

There are also performance improvements for app launch, photo upload, camera launch in low-power mode, AirDrop transfer, and Wi-Fi-to-cellular transition.
Other iPhone changes include photo keywords and star ratings, customizable slideshows, smooth Camera behavior, continuous messaging, Dual Capture in FaceTime, custom EQ for AirPods, new recovery options, easy Apple Pay card switching, and AI-generated wallpaper creation.

We’re rolling out iOS 27 beta 4 now and will update with any significant changes. In the meantime, you can find everything new in iOS 27 in Apple’s keynote list.
