Let’s take a look at what we know so far.

Samsung smart glasses use cases

These smart glasses use Google’s Android XR operating system and can pair with an Android phone. They can be controlled with a paired phone, voice commands, or tapping and swiping on touch-sensitive areas on the temples. They are purpose-built with Gemini Intelligence in mind and have a built-in camera, speakers, and microphone.

You can use Gemini in these glasses to perform the following tasks:

  • Take photos and videos: You can capture high-resolution photos or short videos with a tap. You can also control the camera when you’re wearing a Galaxy Watch with Wear OS.
  • Telephones: You can take voice calls and share what you see with someone in a video call with Google Meet.
  • Text message: You can send messages and have Gemini read messages from your phone.
  • Live language translation: You can translate languages in real time during conversations using the built-in microphone and speakers. You can also use the camera to show Gemini text on a poster, paper, or other object and ask it to translate the text into a language it understands.
  • Handsfree navigation: You can request real-time Gemini guidance based on your location with Google Maps integration. For example, you can ask for help finding a route or identifying nearby landmarks, such as buildings and monuments.
  • Meeting notes and whiteboard summaries: You can take a picture of the information written on the whiteboard during the meeting and ask Gemini to edit or summarize it. You can then save the information to Samsung Notes or Gemini Notebook.
  • Asking general questions: You can ask Gemini standard questions, just like you would on a smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch. You can also ask follow-up questions, and Gemini will remember the context and provide additional information.
  • Shorten long messages: Gemini can summarize long messages received on your phone and read the summaries to you through the smart glasses’ speakers.
  • Listening to music: You can listen to music through the smart glasses speakers using Spotify or YouTube Music.
  • To book a cab: You can book a cab with Uber using only your voice.
  • To order food: You can ask Gemini to order coffee or food through DoorDash.

You may be able to do more with these smart glasses in the future, as more third-party and third-party app integrations are released.
