Anthropic has announced a new initiative called Project Glasswing that includes Apple as a partner. As part of Glasswing, Anthropic is sharing a preview of its newly launched Claude Mythos model with select partners, including Apple.<\/p>\n
Anthropic says that Mythos has found “thousands of extremely powerful vulnerabilities” in “every major application and web browser.”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Apple is among the top tech companies that make up Anthropic’s Project Glasswing team.<\/p>\n Today we’re announcing Project Glasswing, a new initiative that brings together Amazon Web Services, Anthropic, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorganChase, the Linux Foundation, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Palo Alto Networks in an effort to secure the world’s most valuable software.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Additionally, Anthropic says more than 40 additional organizations that “build or maintain critical software” have access to its Mythos Preview AI model. The goal is for these software organizations to use Mythos to find and fix security holes before the AI \u200b\u200bmodel is released to the world.<\/p>\n Claude Mythos has already been used to find major security flaws in all major operating systems and web browsers, according to Anthropic.<\/p>\n Mythos Preview has already found thousands of high-profile vulnerabilities, including some all major applications and web browser<\/em>. Given the rate of AI progress, it won’t be long before such capabilities proliferate, possibly beyond actors committed to their safe use. The fallout\u2014economic, public safety, and national security\u2014could be devastating. Project Glasswing is an urgent effort to make these capabilities work for defensive purposes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n In some cases, these vulnerabilities have “survived decades of human review and millions of automated security checks,” the company said.<\/p>\n One example involves finding and patching together a cybersecurity flaw in the Linux kernel that could lead to complete control over the machine.<\/p>\n Cybersecurity technology is just one area of \u200b\u200bstrength for the new Claude Mythos AI model.
