Although it was possible to remap the dedicated Copilot key in Windows 11, Microsoft temporarily disabled that option to avoid bugs.

Now, in the past, I’ve made it clear that I’m not a big fan of the Copilot key. Although Microsoft is yet to restore the rekeying option, developers are constantly improving services such as And CopilotKeywhich basically lets you return it to its original purpose — the right CTRL key.

Over the Easter weekend, I came across a Windows app made by a nifty user on Reddit, which lets you get a little more out of your touchpad and keyboard. TypeFart (value) is a small application for Windows it plays the same sound for all the key presses and other weird noises when using the touchpad — but you won’t get this kind of kid’s humor for free.

The article continues below

            You might like it

You can sign up for a year for $2.99 or buy a lifetime subscription for $4.99. Both programs share the same offerings, including full keyboard sounds and new effects. However, annual subscriptions ship with additional features, including important community feature requests, and future sound packs and effects.

The app comes with four different flavors: fart, funny, keyboard, or sexy. You can mix and match sounds based on your preferences. It resides in the Windows 11 system tray, which means you don’t have to worry about your Taskbar getting full.

I make my keyboard go crazy every time I type and now I can’t stop laughing from r/windowsapps

Also, as highlighted by the app’s developer in the FAQ section, TypeFart doesn’t drain your laptop’s battery because “uses less CPU and RAM. It just listens for input events — no heavy processing involved.” Good. However, it would be interesting if this were possible with future community feature requests.

I haven’t subscribed to the app yet, but it’s something I’m considering just for fun. I mean, what is life without doubt against all seriousness?

Isn’t Copilot “for entertainment purposes only?”

Late last week, Microsoft Copilot got some traction for all the wrong reasons. Microsoft’s terms of use for the AI chatbot indicate that Copilot is for entertainment purposes only. “It may make mistakes, and may not work as intended. Do not rely on Copilot for important advice. Use Copilot at your own risk,” the scriptures warned.

However, Microsoft quickly dismissed the controversy that quickly built up on social media, suggesting that it was not confident in its offering.

Phrases is a legacy language from when Copilot first launched as a search companion service on Bing. Some of these efforts are already in play, including the return of the fan-favorite animated Taskbar. There are also ongoing mitigation plans where Copilot and its integrations appear in the operating system.

<picture data-new-v2-image="true"></picture>

Join us Reddit at r/WindowsCentral to share your information and discuss our latest news, reviews, and more.

In 2024, Microsoft announced that future Windows PCs will be equipped with a dedicated Copilot key, a sign that “the most important change to the Windows keyboard” in the 30s as part of its then massive Copilot+ PC campaign.
