But there’s one emoji you won’t see on any of Apple’s official emoji keyboards, and its absence may surprise you at first, considering it’s embedded in almost every Apple product. That emoji is, of course, the Apple logo icon.

The only apples you’ll see on the Emoji keyboard for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS are red and green without Apple’s trademark bite. You it can be see the Apple logo icon in three different emojis of a person with a laptop, but that’s it. There isn’t a single Apple logo available, and that’s because it’s not included in the Unicode Emoji standard that can be used across different products and platforms other than Apple’s.

 (U+F8FF hex) (63743 decimal)

But just because it’s not a real emoji doesn’t mean you can’t use it in chats, emails, documents, or anywhere else you can put an emoji. The Apple logo () is a Private Use Area (PUA) character assigned to Unicode as a monochromatic glyph with hex code U+F8FF and decimal code 63743. PUA is a list of code points that the Unicode Consortium left unassigned so that third parties could assign their own characters internally.

Be careful where you add

The Apple logo icon will not display correctly on all platforms. It might look OK when you enter it, but it might be a question mark (?, , ⍰), a black box (■), an empty block (☐, □), or some other indicator when it’s saved or published.

It the will work with any Apple products (TextEdit, Pages, Messages, Mail, Notes, Reminders, etc.), and a number of third-party platforms support it. For example, you can enter and view the Apple logo on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter), but only if you use them in Apple applications.

By default, the Apple logo will not work on Android, Windows, or Linux because their system fonts do not include the U+F8FF glyph.

Enter any font that Apple makes — such as SF Pro, SF Compact, or SF Mono — and the logo will appear. Apple distributes those fonts as DMG packages that expand into PKG installers, which only open on macOS. Apple’s license technically only allows them to mock the UI of apps running on Apple platforms. TTF/OTF copies you find on GitHub or font sharing sites are illegal and may violate that license, so proceed with caution.

Windows or Linux: you can still extract .otf or .ttf files from DMG with a tool like 7-Zip.

Android: some devices allow you to change the system font without root, and an app like zFont2 can help you. However, your Android device must already allow you to change the system font, and not all apps use the system font. The process varies by manufacturer and Android version and may require special permissions or a reboot. If your Android device doesn’t allow you to change system fonts, you can use a launcher like Nova Launcher to give you that ability. Otherwise, you’ll need a rooted phone or tablet.

Typing the Apple logo in macOS

On a Mac, all you have to do is use the keyboard shortcut Option-Shift-K to insert the Apple logo icon into the text field.

 Option-Shift-K

You can also copy and paste the Apple logo icon above or use the method below for iOS and iPadOS.

<astro-island uid="Z16T4ee" prefix="s27" component-url="https://static.gadgethacks.com/_astro/CarouselArticleImages.CoVtFQEp.js" component-export="default" renderer-url="https://static.gadgethacks.com/_astro/client.BkRBcDQm.js" props="{"images":[1,[[0,"<img src="https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp" alt="Mac desktop showing TextEdit with the Apple logo typed three times, plus the macOS virtual keyboard highlighting the Shift, Option, and K keys." srcset="https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/xsmall_shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp 64w, https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/thumbnail_shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp 245w, https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/small_shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp 500w, https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/medium_shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp 750w, https://assets.content.technologyadvice.com/large_shift_option_k_apple_emoji_mac_keyboard_301f947860.webp 1000w" sizes="(min-width: 768px) 80vw, 100vw" data-id="633203">"]]]}" ssr="" client="visible" opts="{"name":"CarouselArticleImages","value":true}" await-children="">

</astro-island>

Typing the Apple logo on iOS, iPadOS

If you’re using an external keyboard (like the Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad or the iPad Magic Keyboard Case) with your iPhone or iPad, you can use the same Option-Shift-K keyboard shortcut above to type the Apple logo in the text field.
