Recently, I posted the news that Glenn Israel, a former Halo Studios developer with over 17 years of experience dating back to Halo 3: ODST, had left the company. In that report, I described Glenn’s claims of gross misconduct, which Microsoft has barely addressed, simply saying, “We do not publicly discuss individual employee matters.<\/em>“<\/p>\nNow, a new report from Rebs Gaming has stepped forward, working to investigate and confirm a few of those allegations. In a recent report, we also see a direct message from ex-girlfriend Glenn Israel ahead of her departure in late 2025, which reads:<\/p>\n\n\n“I saw something on Friday that was illegal, which may have been illegal. I will not report it because 1) it was done … in a way that will be difficult to prove and 2) the retaliation will be true … I do not trust the MSHR’s ability or interest to protect me … respected, impartial, and perhaps most importantly uninvolved you know that I know if, for example, my work takes a while<\/p>Glenn Israel, Former Art Director at Halo Studios<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\nOther claims have also been raised about recruitment practices. Glenn says the three creative leadership roles in question were the only positions outsourced between June 2024 and June 2025, and claims for all three were filled by former collaborators, possibly the fourth time following the same pattern. He suggests that this reflects not only mutual understanding, but also a broader approach to recruitment.<\/p>\n

(Exclusive) – YouTube<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\nWatch it open Glenn commented on a recent video of Mr. Rebs, confirming that these recruitment concerns were part of his original complaints, saying:<\/p>\n\n\nSpeaking only on a matter that I can personally attest to… I will affirm that the appalling appearance of incompetence in the employment shown here was indeed the cause of concern in my original complaints… Once it may be mysterious, doubly accidental; three or more times is a pattern, and a direct violation of Microsoft’s code of conduct… I will add information that Mr. Rebs would not know – three of these positions were the only creative leadership positions posted for external recruitment between June 2024 and June 2025; the fact that all three (and a fourth?) went to their former partners suggests not only a pattern but a vague policy…This behavior is acceptable for a garage startup in 1996… Halo Studios is part of the third most profitable company in the world in 2026… One cannot simply hire and promote one’s partners.<\/p>Glenn Israel, Former Art Director at Halo Studios<\/cite><\/figcaption><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\nThe report also describes how the Halo Digsite team was treated, which is well documented. The group, made up of community modders responsible for restoring the Halo 2 E3 demo, was disbanded after Halo Studios refused to pay the workers.<\/p>\n

I hope Microsoft can step in and stabilize things before Halo: Campaign Evolved. As things stand, however, it’s frustrating to see the same types of stories come up over and over again, and frankly, it’s sad.<\/p>\n
