Meta&#8217;s Family of Apps, which includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, brought in a staggering $55.9 billion in revenue. Meanwhile, Meta&#8217;s Reality Labs products, such as Meta Quest, Ray-Ban AI glasses, and game sales, brought in just $402 million. Meta&#8217;s Q4 2025 earnings remain at an all-time high of $59.89 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The huge increase in revenue over the past year can be directly attributed to the company&#8217;s use of AI in its ad business, which helps continuously target specific customers with ads. Jesse Cohen, senior analyst at Investing.com, noted that &#8220;Meta&#8217;s earnings beat overshadowed the Capex surprise. Investors are digesting the fact that Meta&#8217;s AI ambitions come with a high price tag that will squeeze profits in the near term.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While the company&#8217;s Meta Quest, Ray-Ban, and Oakley AI sunglasses are leading the market, annual revenue has fallen slightly by $10 million. During the call, Meta specifically cited lower-than-expected Quest sales as one of the reasons for the decline.<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Snuk7ZRNB8jmpiCmtrevxT\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-Snuk7ZRNB8jmpiCmtrevxT slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">Get the latest news from Android Central, your trusted friend in the Android world<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;The key limitation will be if we see successive episodes of Capex growth accompanied by a decline in revenue,&#8221; Cohen said. &#8220;If that happens, the story will change forever from &#8216;building the future&#8217; to &#8216;burning money on speculation&#8217; with no guaranteed returns.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That last part is a real risk, since Meta absolutely hopes to avoid another Reality Labs debacle, where investors are talking about &#8220;losses&#8221; every quarter despite Zuckerberg&#8217;s vision of AR and VR as the future of computing.<\/p>\n<hr id=\"elk-d0d9ed85-1f69-4b82-b828-3d5200af2253\"\/>\n<h2 id=\"android-central-s-take-3\">Android Central&#8217;s take<\/h2>\n<p id=\"elk-0ffa1ea7-2810-4632-852a-808143319dbd\">Meta released Meta Spark, a new closed-source AI agent, just before the earnings call for a reason. Zuckerberg noted that his &#8220;view on AI is very different from others in the industry,&#8221; pointing out that AI should augment what you want to do rather than replace humans. &#8220;People will be more important in the future, not less,&#8221; Zuckerberg said bluntly during the earnings call.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m not entirely sold on his idea, and it&#8217;s based on the company&#8217;s actions over the past few years. While Meta&#8217;s headcount of 77,986 employees is 1% higher than this time last year, the company has spent a lot of time with large public layoffs. Although more people are clicking on the company&#8217;s ads than ever before, the public&#8217;s perception of its physical products appears to be lower than ever due to this move.<\/p>\n<p>Meta is very much a Silicon Valley company, and that means it moves fast, breaks things constantly, and abandons anything that doesn&#8217;t produce immediate results.
