According to amazing events, Blizzard has added a new one Warcraft 3: Legacy<\/strong> this is an option Battle.net<\/strong>. It provides access to the original 1.29<\/strong> client from The Frozen Throne<\/strong> period, and it is noted that it belongs to offline<\/strong> again LAN to play<\/strong> only.<\/p>\nTo access the Legacy version, go to your Battle.net client’s Warcraft 3: Enhanced page. Click the menu above the game’s Play button and select Legacy 1.29.<\/p>\n\n\n

I was one of the “lucky” ones who got to review Warcraft 3: Remastered almost six years ago, and it didn’t take long to see why the fan review-bombing of Metacritic users got so bad. 0.5 out of 10<\/strong> (the game still sits at a 0.6 user score all these years later).<\/p>\n\n\n

Warcraft 3: Reforged came with significant issues. The features weren’t there. Campaigns were changed. Character animation was difficult. The network was not working properly.<\/p>\n
Worst of all? Blizzard overwrote the old Warcraft 3 client with the Reforged client, destroying a lot of custom games that were a big draw for many RTS enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
If you wanted to play the old Warcraft 3, you had to do so with a workaround involving the versions of the beta branch.<\/p>\n
Blizzard tried to salvage some of its work with the Reforged 2.0 patch a few years ago, but it failed miserably to revive the game’s appeal.<\/p>\n
Is Warcraft 3: Legacy really what it seems?<\/h2>\n\n\n

As one user, Kiezel, points out, there are still problems going on.<\/p>\n\n\n

Patch 1.31 was 64-bit and added several new features, while 1.29 is 32-bit. This does not include running on a Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n

Many of the same old problems that appeared after Reforged persist in Legacy, and it lacks online play.<\/p>\n
Anyway, this could be the first step to update Warcraft 3 through “official” channels. I don’t think there would have been much of an outcry if Reforged had been completely forgotten, but I would be wrong.<\/p>\n
